Even if that was true that doesn't have anything to do with what the manager did today.
Maybe, and maybe not - perhaps Levy has made it clear that Top4 is the number one priority.

That said, I was pissed off at hat line up before KO, and wish Conte had told Levy to go F**K himself and paid our best team, and made clear were are prioritising the cup this year

I know the current fad is to try and squeeze Royal and Porro into the side by playing Royal RCB but Royal's playing out of his skin in his current role. I wouldn't mess with that tbh
Yea fair but it gets all our best players into the back 5.
=no Sanchez, no dier, no old man ? Perisic, no tanganga etc

Nope. Don't agree. I find "fucking Levy....' is the a simplistic, reductive argument, when it's applied to every bloody issue we have, and often lets others off the hook.

Sometimes, just sometimes, it's NOT Levy, and I don't like him either. Unless you are seriously trying to persuade me you would prefer Sheff Utd's playing squad to ours, and on paper they had a stronger team due to lack of investment by Levy and the board?

Is Levy is a reason we didn't win Semi finals and finals under Poch, God Yes.
Is he's possibly the reason why are not playing better under Conte, and comfortably in the top 4., if he'd got him 2xCB's, Maybe - though I'm not 100% convinced of that. However - He should have at least got them to see if it worked, and didn't.

In short, Is Levy is an issue when he interferes with the playing side of transfers - yes.

Is the squad we have good enough to beat Sheffield Utd though - Yes, yes it is.

Todays specific issue was a shambolic, overconfident, arrogant team selection. We were on a pretty shaky run, and had just started to get a bit of confidence back beating Chelsea and West Ham. We then changed it, for what was, for me, our last chance to win anything all year, and probably burst that fragile bubble.

If you want to rotate start your best team, bring them off if you are winning, you have 5 bloody subs now ffs.

As if Conte and his team are rightly getting credit for a terrific performance against Chelsea, they should be getting palters for getting it wrong tonight, and the players that played were dog shit, and should be too.

You can think both the performance today is a manager and team issue, and think Levy holds us back from transitioning from a good team to an elite one - it's not a mutually exclusive, pick a side scenario.
I've touched upon this in the Conte thread and the point I was trying to make was that it's more than just who's in the dugout to our woes - I mean, you've touched upon it yourself so think we are on the same page ultimately.

There's alot of frustration as i've placed a real emphasis on us going far in this competition so i'm sure in the cold light of day i'll look at all things Tottenham with (slightly) more rationality. There's culpability across the board - the players, the management and the board and I feel change is needed in all three to facilitate real change.

I love to dig out Levy but you can't moan about him tonight in regards to the result.

So Conte didnt pick Kane ? But he brought him a 60 million quid back up?

But Levy is to blame for hiring and firing a series of managers that have more or less all told him that these players are not only weak mentally, but crap.

Yet here we are again, out of another cup with the same players still playing.

That's fair - there are two arguments in play. I think that it's just an overall frustration and also if people do dislike the football and didn't like it under Nuno or Mourinho or are annoyed that Poch didn't get an opportunity to freshen up his squad then obviously Daniel Levy and ENIC do have to take responsibility for that.

The performance against Chelsea wasn’t that good, more that they were really poor and played into our hands

West Ham were the better team against us in the first half

That’s a criminal fuck up there from a supposed elite manager, do not play around with that fucking line up!!! The first XI are fragile, the fring players are fucking atrocious

All on terrible management of terrible players tonight. The lot of them can fuck off

How are people blaming Levy. The man spent £45m on Sanchez, it’s been spent poorly but it’s been spent. The players are badly coached and badly prepared

Yeah I agree he keeps appointing the wrong managers but I don't want to let them managers off just because he does.

Under levy we will never really challenge but I at least want to semi enjoy the football. Every week is a slog that makes me want to scratch my eyes out.

What a surprise, we are out of another cup, to a team we should be beating. The usual excuses of, lack of energy, weak mentality etc. being used by the coaches. Levy merrily getting along with ‘business’ but clearly doesn’t give a monkeys about the playing side, unless it threatens a top 6 finish.

We haven’t won anything in 15 years. Why do we think we have the right to rest our key players when our bench is so poor?

Im so tired of Spurs, it’s crap football, always on the verge of doing something but not quite got enough to go that one step further. Surely as fans we deserve a team that wants to win, and back room staff that have a vision, is open about it and backs that vision. We are so lost, but with so much potential that is going wasted.
I was so bored watching that game tonight.

My hometown club gave Sheff Utd much more of a test, over 2 games and they're currently playing non league.

Congrats to the 22% of us who predicted the inevitable spurs cup misery ?

I am so naive - I thought I would be on here for a few hours chuckling away and having a few beers.
Good job I don’t drink much these days, I’d be off on one thinking of what could have been.
We will never get past our own stupidity when it comes to time like these

I'm not sure you vsn lay the blame on levy for this. Culture and mentality was supposed to be installed by our serial winning management team
@TonyK

Explain why you disagree. Do the people who work day in, day out not responsible for mentality?

Or is this because you are so anti levy, that you can't actually use any sense of subjective thinking.

Sorry but this is the wrong angle.

Sheffield United were set by this point, had belief and the stadium were right up for it.

Guarantee had we started stongly with a good team, it would have killed their belief and they would not have been able to set themselves.

Our approach tonight is exactly where it went wrong
Given Sheff Utd largely sat in for the first hour of the game, you're a more optimistic man than me thinking we'd have broke them down!

I fear we'd have just got a load of shuffling the ball about and cross spam, as we do always in these situations. And left hoping Kane did something or maybe a set piece goal. Not convinced a full strength XI would have done much, sad to say.

While we've got players like Hojberg as automatic starters things will never change,he'll have a blood & thunder game now and again when everything drops into place but he's not a game changer and never will be,neither is Skipp despite Sunday's heroics,I'm not blaming him for tonight by any means and he's young enough to improve but some on Sunday were saying he's better than Declan Rice ffs. We are desperately in need of that midfield spark when the chips are down,Bentancur provided it from time to time and we'll never found out whether Bissouma is the answer while Conte is still here.

We were playing SHEFFILED!
So does that not just prove how fucking awful these guys are, especially when all 3 play together! None of them should be starting games for us and Sanchez shouldn’t even be on the bench ffs!

Yep, the caps lock sealed the deal, in terms of intent ?.

We employed 2 serial winners who haven't won. Mostly because they got knocked out by massively inferior teams. Is that Enics fault that an "Elite" manager can't get better players to perform?

Our club has a problem, however its not a single point of failure imo
Glad you can see I'm upset about the result with the caps locks emphasing it ?
But can anyone get players like Dier, Sanchez, Davies, PEH to to play better to have s better chance of winning
I think ENIC/Levy are a big part to play for not selling the dead wood that keeps letting us down.
Also should of backed Pochettino when he wanted a rebuild years ago.

The thing that infuriates me is that these players should be capable of beating lower league teams
So many of our players play better for their countries - the likes of Hojbjerg and Sanchez raise their game immensely at international level. And we sign players to strengthen the squad only for them to offer nothing for us. They play great up until the moment they pull on a spurs shirt.
Ive had enough of it

Always used to think we were a serious team. I know we have had our peaks and troughs of late and so much heartbreak but after tonight I realised we are actually just a joke

Just one more game crying out for a number 10. But instead of buying one we buy more wingers. At the moment i hope Conte fucks off as I'm sick of someone to fucking stubborn to change it when it clearly isn't working. Keeps doing the same shit again and again expecting a different result.
