The time you posted this berbatov had more goals than defoe , and he finished with more aswell !!
Whats wrong with you ??
Dimi was a great player for us, but he held us to ransom over leaving for Man United. For that reason I never want to see him play for us again, just as I didn't Robbie Keane.
However, purely from a footballing point of view, despite his obvious talent I think we need a striker of similar size and stature whom just stays in the box. Berba is almost too good just to do that.
He is also far too lazy for AVB's preferred tactic of pressing high up the pitch.
I would have to disagree with you slightly. Playin style wise Berba is exactly what we need, he can hold the ball up, create for the likes of Dempsey, Lennon, Bale etc. Berba is the type of player that can play in any team wotever the formation quite simply because he is a great footballer. The one way he doesn't fit is his mentality, his mentality is what has stopped him going down as one of the greats. If he had of applied himself more consistantly he would still be at United.
While I would love to see him in a Spurs shirt again I would never resign him.
Never go back.
In retrospect if you are comparing the impact Berbs had at Fulham vs the impact Ade had here them you'd have to wonder what we would have achieved with Berbatov up front. I would have had him back as our third striker. I think he ran out of gas in the end though.
Would be fantastic if he was cheap and was happy to be rotated. Imagine having that sort of class to bring on. His age isn't going to stop him being awesome for the next few years.
Time to come home and help us secure top 4/win something. We need strength in depth and where are you going to get his sort of ability from for £5m? One of the biggest mistakes we made was letting him go to Fulham.
But did we "let him go to Fulham."? Is it possible, just possible, he didn't want to come back to us? Is it even possible that Levy didn't want him back? Or AvB? I think to say we "let him go to Fulham" is arrogance of the highest order. Sorry, mate.
Indeed.
