Well if they gone to the bother of agreeing a fee surely they've sounded out Siggy's interest to join/consider them before doing so?

how many could he get for us?

Could he get? I don't know...not as many as someone like Eriksen playing behind the forward that's for sure, nor would his overall play be of the same quality as someone like Eriksen...so I'm not sure what your point is.

If you mean being used from a left sided position or just filling in across those attacking midfield spots over the season just look at the goals he got so far us - hardly impressive.

I guess he won't be throwing the first pitch in Chicago then. Shame.

This made ma laugh:

Difficult to say bye to Gylfi Sigurdsson, but not quite as difficult as Kevin Phillips would find it.

well if he can get 10 for palace(your opinion) then can he not get 10 for spurs? and if he can get 10, why are we selling him?

Yep. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he gets at least ten goals for someone like Palace.
Agree, but I think that would be more due to the style of play than ability. Arriving on the edge of the box to pick up knock-downs from a big CF is what hes good at, he doesnt suit a team thats trying to pass.

Behind the forward...yes I think he could. But Eriksen could get 15 plus and is just a superior player in every sense...so why would I opt for Siggy ahead of him?

You see the point I'm making? He won't get ten for us playing from a left sided position...look at his goals tally so far. He's not going to be the main man for that central spot behind the forward at Spurs.

Sigurdsson is a weird one. Technically you can see that he has a lot going for him, but I've never seen anyone in a Spurs shirt knocked off the ball more easily than Gylfi. Even Roman Pavlyu-fucking-chenko (copyright Spurs Bear) had more chance of coming away with the ball when coming up against an opposition player in a 50:50 than Sigurdsson has done so far.

He's a likeable character and plays a decent style of football, but ultimately I don't think he has the physicality (both strength and speed) to be a success for Spurs. Wish him nothing but good luck with his next club, but I think it's the right decision all round if he moves on.

he played from the left sided position last season and managed 5 goals in 1282 minutes, over a full season that's 13 goals so maybe he could if given the chance?

Even if he bore out the above, which I'd doubt, he's still a bit too peripheral out there IMO. What were his stats in the first season as well by the way? 3 goals in even more minutes?

He just needs to be at the centre of an attack at a lesser Club. He needs to be the main man with that bit of quality and those around him getting the ball to him as much as possible. Not playing a nominal left sided role at Spurs.

He's not a bad player overall, just not good enough to be a consistent starter for Spurs.

Doesn't seem like a good fit for Palace.

Siggy isn't conducive in a counter attacking unit and nor is he physical enough to grind it out centrally.

Not complaining though as he is almost definitely surplus to requirements and his position in the squad can be easily filled.

Seemed like a good guy though so all the best at Palace but too much like a feather in the wind here and not enough personality on the pitch.

Siggy would probably get 10 plus goals for us if he played every match (or a considerable amount of matches) I just don't think he would, given the players in front of him in the pecking order

8m is a fair deal. The lad has a brilliant shot on him and works hard but that is not enough for the area of the pitch he operated in.

Fingers crossed this gets things moving regarding transfers coming in.
