I don't think anyone's in the same League as Barton. And to be honest, every team that Savage has played for, his fans have loved him because he gives his all.

Yeah he's a first class tosser of a prick, but he gets stuck in for the team. I used to work with a Rovers supporter who used to absolutely hate him. After he signed for them, I'd even say it was as quickly as 2/3 weeks - he was singing his praises.

Nobody likes him, do you think he cares?

The soft namby-pamby midfield we have is crying out for that sort of player, and if you can't see it, there's only one thing that's laughable here.

I can see it, but i got crucified on here for suggesting that barton at £5m could do a job for us.

Now Poulsen who would probably cost double that is getting the nod from you lemmings, why? because he's foreign & plays abrod probably

Like I said, Barton is in a world of his own. Off the field? He's a fucking nightmare - fair enough I don't have Poulson's history - but I know he hasn't beaten up a kid for giving him a bit of stick, nor punched a team-mate (in the same incident) nor beat the crap out of another (Dabo).

So no, I don't want Barton anywhere near my fucking team. That doesn't mean I don't want the type of player he is.

That's what Bush said about the Patriot Act.

Let's not lose our beloved Spurs philosophy completely now in this time of crisis, and start signing players who'd feel more at home in Arsenal, West Ham or some other team full of thugs, just because they'd do a job. Surely there are players out there who can boss a midfield and still not be a complete ****? Poulsen is one of the dirtiest players out there. I'd hate to see him at Spurs...

That's because it's what we've always lacked. No one likes them, but to do well you need a **** like it in your midfield.

I love it, the guy is a fucking horrible bastard in the Barton/Savage vein but all of a sudden everyone wants him.

Laughable

I wrote that it makes perfect sense that Ramos wants him, not that he's necessarily my dream Spurs player. Poulsen's wikipedia entry is a fun read - especially the bit where he faces Gattuso down with an ironic thumbs up.

Anybody finding a YouTube link gets some rep.

I've noticed with a lot of the threads here, many fans seem to be imposing their own Football Manager fantasies onto Ramos. This is hallucinatory nonsense. Ramos will almost certainly try to produce a Spurs team playing the system he's spent years coaching. That means we need attacking full backs (already got plenty of them), very fast wingers who can cross (we have Lennon and maybe Rose - so expect new signings, esp for the left), and tough, mobile but disciplined holding CMs (of which, apart from The Hud if Ramos can train him to play the role, we have not a single one).

Therefore, Poulsen is an entirely logical signing for Ramos. And if he's wearing a Spurs shirt, then I'll be rooting for him. Whilst that doesn't mean I want him to go round trying to maim opposition players, I don't remember many ManU fans disowning Keane for trying to cripple Alfie Inge Haaland...

He may want him, but seriously I don't think he can get him. Del Nido would probably rather sell his family to a slave farm than sell a player to us.

on the evidence of those youtube clips, he'd last about 15 mins before being sent off.. and to be honest its all very well bullying Kaka around, I can't see him getting away with that against most of the midfielders in the premiership

I saw him play on Sunday and he scored, but he's nothing special. I've seen him a few times and whilst he looks decent, he isn't the quality of player we need. Surely the whole point of bringing Ramos in is to take us top 4 and I can't really see Poulson comparing favourably against the midfielders of the top 4. Keita, on the other hand, has been brilliant everytime I've seen him (only a couple of times). On Sunday he was easily the best player on the park, ahead of some real quality in the Valencia midfield. Unfortunately, he only went to Seville in the summer so we wont be able to get him. When you consider the side most likely to finish 4th had CMs like Alonso, Gerrard and Mascherano, it shows just how tough the task is and the reallity of the quality of player we need.

I agree that I don't think Poulsen is top quality - it's more that he fits Ramos' system perfectly, and a new coach often likes to bring someone who knows his system to his new club.

The Liverpool point is an interesting one. Ramos likes to set up his teams quite similarly to Benitez - the flair is wide, the grit and discipline is in the middle. Which is why if Benitez didn't have to worry about the fans and Gerrard's contract, I suspect he'd have Stevie G out wide nearly every time with two from Mascherano, Alonso & Sissoko in the middle.

The other issue with Poulsen is of course that Sevilla would make us pay way over the odds for him - unless he has a minimum fee release clause (£7 million was mentioned in one of the threads but I have no idea whether this is true).

maybe its because he beats up his own team mates and stubs cigars out in youth team players eyes. Or it could be due to the fact he hit a everton supporting KID in a hotel lobby.

Being a prick on the pitch is fine, being a complete animal off it is not fine.

That second vid is funny. He kicks seven kinds of shit out of Kaka but sometimes thats exactly what you need. If he can take a player of Kakas quality out of a game then he can do something our CM can only dream of. Not perfect for all games but just what you need against the likes of Fabregas.

Poulsen is a very good player, highly rated in the Spanish League. He can play as DM in front of the defense or as a center back. Very intelligent, tactical and with good technique. If signed he certainly is going to make the team tick more than any other CMs Spurs have at the moment from what I've seen of your team.

Del Nido would want atleast 10 million for him so he's out of the question. Much rather have Appiah for 6 million
