Its funny. This woman, who probably has not worked a day in her life, inherited billions and probably does absolutely nothing but spend it all on women stuff...and obviously food. Lots and lots of it, apparently. Yikes.

But that's besides the point, this woman probably has not worked a day in her life and probably has no clue about running a business. I've read that she wanted to be involved with the club, well that's all fine and dandy, but not if you have no fucking clue what you are doing. So I am under the impression that this is not because of selling players, but because she wants to sell the club and wanted to take over to maintain the asset's worth. She probably wants another pet project instead, and since football is a man's thing, she's going to sell her father's pet project in order to finance her's. Maybe Cortese refused all the offers to stay and resigned knowing she is going to sell so he wants to come back in with a group of investors and buy the club from her? Probably Southamptons best hope at this point....

There really are no adequate words to convey my female rage at this post. What about all the completely inadequate male chairmen, hmm?

Am glad Pochettino is staying. I really do love watching his Soton team.

Why does Katharina Liebherr think she can run a football club than a person who has actual experience and loves the game? Some people are just fucking nut jobs. I feel sorry for Southampton, they could implode because of one persons sheer stupidity!
Well, she's probably been inspired by the wankers who own Hull and Cardiff.

Why do you think loving the game is actually a good thing when it comes to managing a £100,000,000 business?

In business, one must be objective and by blindly loving the organisation that you're running then you've already failed the test of objectivity. Professional detachment from those in charge means a club will be around for another 100 years. Being a fan (like that blond chap at Palace) means that a club will eventually be bought to its knees because you're compromised by your fanaticism for the club

AVB certainly wasn't flavor of the month when we hired him.
The other thing is that Ramos is the only manager that Levy has appointed who has got us some silverware and the other managed to get us to 5th place when we sold two of our best players. So it's certainly disingenuous not to give them any credit at all.

He sure isn't now. Doubt PSG will ask again.

As I've said before, that would have been a great comfort as we lined up against Doncaster.

'Disingenuous' doesn't mean 'wrong'.

Christ, has your bewilderment at AVBs sacking come to this ? Defending a terrible Spurs manager on the basis of Woodgate face planting the ball by mistake into Chelsea's net ?

I'm giving credit where credit is due, lucky goal or not, we played great that day and deserved to win. It was a wonderful feeling to win the cup especially against Chelsea. I will always remember that day.

after what Southampton have been through the last 10 years I am sure the fans are very relaxed indeed about the clubs current overhyped "plight"

the club will be fine

Saints are currently flying high,.... then Savage states, "Time to take Southampton seriously."

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30239777

Cue immediate Saints demise.... :eek::whistle:

jinx, I called it
Chambers was never a star player for Southampton, he was a promising player

As for their demise, I think this run of fixtures doesnt help
Man City (H)
Arsenal (A)
Man Utd (H)
Burnley (A)
Everton (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Chelsea (H)
Arsenal (H)
Man Utd (A)
Newcastle (A)

If they get 10 points from those games, it would be a success but it would hurt their elevated position

Indeed, it confuses me when the lowly football fan can see a bit of perspective yet these pundits/experts/ex-players can't.

Yes they have been playing well and probably should be taken fairly seriously but they have almost entirely come up against weaker teams. Christ they even managed to lose to the mighty Spurs!

They probably can, but it doesn't make for good viewing/reading. They need to earn their salaries somehow.

Southampton have a stronger squad this year so will deal with the long season better.

One of my best mates is a Saints fan and generally pretty down to earth and said at the beginning of the season the loss of Shaw and Chambers would have almost no effect on them as Clyne and Bertrand are as good in the short-term anyway.

The real loss was Lallana and Lambert but as Pelle and Tadic have hit the ground running this hasn't been much of a problem either.

They're still nothing special and will struggle in the harder games they have coming up.

not too sure saints have a "stronger" squad this year. they really seem to hinge on 1 or 2 players now -- their squad depth does not seem deeper this season as well.

an injury to Pelle and/or Schneiderlin will see them sink faster than Titanic IMHO...

What Southampton are showing is a consistency against 'the rest' that nobody else can seem to do. We expect them to drop points against the so called top clubs on a given day, but where the other CL-challenging clubs are inconsistent against the so called lesser sides, Southampton haven't lost yet.

In this season of inconsistency, I don't think we can poo poo a so called easier fixture list, particularly where we've lost home games against Stoke and West Brom.

like I said,... right on cue...

SubstitutionSubstitution, Southampton. Maya Yoshida replaces Morgan Schneiderlin because of an injury.

I was not wishing for it, just predicted it... 1 of only 2 key players in their squad - unlikely they can cover for his loss, let the freefall begin....

(anyone remember Laudrup and Michu?) :stop:

If Pelle got injured they can bring in Shane Long and Rodriguez is coming back.

In midfield Ward-Prowse and Jack Cork are another year into their development and they have Wanyama.

Bertrand is doing really well at left back and Target is good backup.

Every team relies on certain individuals but to say they don't have a stronger squad is pure nonsense.

I disagree, the players who left were the frontline.... other than additions pelle and tadic most are gone.... and schneiderlin was injured today.

the players you name above as starters were last season's back ups... remember lambert, lallana, shaw, chambers, etc...?

long and rodriguez do not fill the same role as pelle...

1-2 key injuries and they are quite mundane IMHO - time will tell :stop:

Ward Prowse wasnt a back up last year and started ahead of Wanyama at times and has more potential than Lallana imo

Chambers was a back up last season
