dont rate emerson but dont think he had his worse game... however romero thought he was poor tonight along with a few others including kane, peh to mention a couple.
really don't understand why bissouma isnt getting more minutes unless conte never wanted him

Issue is any conte team doesn't create centrally yet we have a RWB that can't pass, dribble or shoot as one of the 5 attacking players

Teams know how to play against us now. Stick a man to Kane and don't let him turn when he drops deep, whilst outnumber the midfield. Let Emerson have it out wide, because he won't do anything with it and press Hugo because the man kicks it long at the faintest hint of pressure.

That is the blueprint and teams are doing it in all competitions. Perisic FWIW adds something new, as he provided at least a couple of what could have easily been assists, but we don't get that from the other side.

I say out of form and that may be slightly harsh on Kane. But he's nowhere near his best. His goals have papered over some quite patchy form imo. Son needs to be taken out of the limelight imo.

Deki should have started and that's on Conte.

I’m at a loss to describe that performance. I think they must have put something in their drinks before the games. Lacklustre doesn’t really describe it, it was so lifeless. How Sporting took so long to score I have no idea.

Also the snobbishness that some fans have over teams not in the big 3 leagues pisses me off, and that some thought this would be an easy three points is frankly delusion. Sporting are a good team (as I said personally they are the second best team in the group), a loss is absolutely not an unexpected result and this group isn't piss easy.

As I said this is a group where we are both favourites but at the same time it wouldn't be surprising if we failed to get out of it. A loss away against the 2nd best team in the group is no crisis, we move on.

If we can't get a result against Sporting Lisbon we will do nothing in this competition.

This. Not one of them. One or two stood out for workrate but that's about all. Every single player was poor in one way or another, poor touch, poor passing, poor pass selection, poor movement, name a metric, we were poor at it. All measures, all players. I would exempt Hugo from that.

If anyone is picking out individuals here then it's pure agenda and should be ignored, it's not a reflection of the game or what happened. But then this is the match thread. Not much usually is.

The whole lot of them were simply not at it. They were all bad.

I’m surprised Conte didn’t bring on Sessegnon and Doherty or Spence as Perisic wasn’t at it and Emerson imploded.

He must have been happy with a point and keeping the players fresh ahead of Leicester.

I think we’ll see Lenglet, Sessegnon, Doherty, Bissouma and Kulusevski all starting at the weekend.

A point in fairness would have been a good result. I did feel we needed to change the midfield a bit, but there was no need to gamble. I doubt Bissouma will start, he clearly is some way behind based on the west ham games and cameos. Emerson fustrates me, but then he does offer stability, and we largely defended very well today as well and he is part of it. Lenglet was an awful defender at Barcelona but good on the ball. Do we think we will dominate against Leicester?

This is on Conte for making wrong decisions. The CMs and WBs were spent near the end and he should have made some substitutions to maintain the energy.

We were unlucky not to have put that to bed well before the end. I think the FiFa game experts will change their tune tomorrow as it was clearly a 3.83 xg v 0.89 xg game. ?

Mistake was not putting on fresh legs. I'm looking at Bissouma for Holjberg and Spence for Emerson.

Not really going to say anything new except agreeing this is majorly on conte and what he is doing is damaging to our squad going forward.

1. playing sonny, when he is miles off form. It literally sends all of the wrong signals to your players that a core group of them are undroppable.

2. tactically he has no ability to change a game or his system. I think in the 40 odd games he has been here i think he did it once against chelsea in january where we got humiliated and he hasn't bothered since. We just lack all creativity.

3. he is sooooo slow to make his subs.

4. we can make 5 bloody changes and yet he only makes one where it could make a difference and it is the most obvious one you knew he would do from minute 1. Kulu for sonny.

5. My biggest worry is how damaging the lack of changes are to the players on the bench like bissouma. They never get a proper chance to show what they can do unless we are cruising to a win, which has been on a couple of occasions this season. He will play the bench in some dud game and then it will be the usual second string team which will look disjointed, so what chance will these players have to shine?

Yep. I said before the game I couldn't see past a draw, which wouldn't be a terrible result. Yet 3 idiots who clearly know football better wtf rated me.

We have a team of limited players who have finally been caught out I'm so glad that I didn't get to see it.
Fed up with the boring football that goes nowhere and the team is stacked with willing workers but fuck all else.

fact is Kane and Son haven’t been at it this season and it’s finally cost us...at least Kane is getting goals (except tonight), but it’s now time to bench Sonny for a few games. Kulu looked dangerous when he finally came on and doesn’t deserve to be on the bench.
Contes tried playing Sonny back into form and it hasn’t worked, time to see if a few games out does the trick.
