Mate are you purposely ignoring our CL exploits last season? Or shall we say lack of a CL. We were awful in Europe because we had a terribly thin squad its that simple. Our squad is not good enough to compete for both CL and the league. That pathetic u17s bench against Juve today just goes to prove it. A few injuries and we are fielding a kindergarten group on our subs bench.

I'd love us to have a bench like Chelsea or Man City that can comfortably compete at the top of the league and in an elite European competition, but until a sugar-daddy comes along, this is the kind of bench we're going to have playing in a meaningless pre-season friendly, when we're not rushing players back from injury.

If anyone doesn't like the look of that bench or the reasons why it looks like it does, then they'll have to get on their knees and pray a Russian oligarch fancies buying us over.

That's a bit extreme, come on we have sold walker, fazio, benteleb and ngie this summer, netting £83m in the process. It's not dreaming to have an oligarch own us to get a bit more squad depth, like 2 or 3 players for support.

I don`t like when people moan about Dier in midfield, does people forget the 15/16 season that easily?

Of course it's not. But the market's screwed at the moment. A 30 million pound player is going to be worth 30 million on the 31st of August. Today, you'd be lucky to get him for 45mil.

We don't buy in the same market that values Walker at £50 million, we only sell in it.

That market we can afford to operate in opens in about two weeks time.
