3-1 up against 10 men and he still won’t play Spence. How bad does Royale have to be before this boy gets a game. I would take anyone at right back over this boy. As soon as the ball goes to him I just switch Off. Not sure I’ve had that with any other player for 40 years as a fan.

I thought for a while that Conte was holding us back but he is in fact overachieving with this squad. Look beyond the few top stars we have and it's bang average. And the bad players are holding us back. Massive, sustained investment in better players needed.

top in our CL group and 3rd in the league having just lost a single PL game.

I agree we can always improve and get better but bang average is just plain wrong (an Emerson or so aside)

People either have short memories or haven’t been Spurs fans long enough….. I still remember being 3 up against City and losing 4-3….. and a shit City team with Shaun Goater in it as well.
Was that the one where Joey Barton got sent off as well???

Yeah. I just don’t see it/get it. It’s weird.

He might understand the system and his patterns, but his touch is dog shit. Give Spence a go FFS

The recent west ham debacle throwing a 3 goal lead with 10mins to go, at home, that takes some beating. Actually that ws similar problem as tonight, thinking the game was done when it fucking isn't. I dont know why professional footballers find that so hard to understand. Tbf I do think with that many subs you're asking for it ut against 10men??? Jeez.

Yep, by mid 2nd half we had created enough fantastic chances to have been 5 or 6-1 up. The game was done and dusted as long as we saw it out. It was understandable for the intensity to drop given the fixture cluster…. but to make wholesales changes in key positions and change the formation twice resulted in a comfortable and well deserved win nearly ending in throwing away 2 additional points. A draw would have been a travesty.

Last comment from me... That has to be the worst refereeing performance I've ever seen, and I watch a lot of Premier League football.

Not giving the first penalty straight away, not sending off the Brazilian dude for 2 yellows immediately (basically had Bentancur confirm it was the same player), and not giving Hasebe a second yellow were all utterly shameful decisions. Add to that the amount of smaller fouls he called the wrong way.

Terrible referee, hopefully we never see him take control of one of our games again.

Just as a general comment I thought Frankfurt were exceedingly lucky not to finish the game with 8 men. The ref took an extreme amount of pity on that Hasebe, and then the defender who just gave up and brought down Gil was making zero attempt to play the ball and was last man.

Ref could definitely have been harsher on their transgressions.
Yeah classic case of the ref not wanting to give another red in fear of making the game a farce (not that it should matter).

Hasebe would've definitely walked if they weren't already down to 10. And maybe if he hadn't hurt himself making his terrible challenge.

Important win. We’re not there yet but that is a step in the right direction.

I also thought our attacking play was very good for most of the game. We should have been a few more up. Hojbjerg excellent. Feel bad for Gil, should have scored had Harry played the ball earlier or at a reasonable height, and should have seen his good work rewarded by Harry tucking away the penalty.

I felt we did control that second half up to about 80 mins.

They hadn’t had a shot at that point. It was too many subs and the fact that Royal wasn’t one of them that lost control

That fella is a liability, especially in attacking areas. He is utter, utter garbage

Easy to say after the fact, but that was the first time in a long time I didn't feel confident about Kane taking a pen.

He was clearly blowing out of his arse and he did something weird in his run up. Just looked totally knackered and not his usual pre-pen self.
Had the same feeling. Seemed rushed but also somehow languid.

Often has to take the extra touch whether it be second or third. At one point he steadied and managed a few good balls but then that sloppiness which nearly cost us dearly.

Sanchez and Emerson were pretty poor on the right side when Sanchez came on.

It showed that Romero's ability on the ball is missing when not in that position. Sanchez is not the most cultured defender at the best of times but there was comical passing between him and Emerson....

There is a player there it's just whether he can bulk up a little to compete in the more physical league. I really like him, I just hope we keep him as I can see him getting binned off.
I can see him being the next Marcus Edwards and doing better somewhere else such as Spain or Portugal. He seems to enjoy his football and I like his determination. He could be a winner for us long-term.

I’m not by any means inferring spence is the messiah or the answer long term as we haven’t seen him yet but surely it’s clear for all to see that Royale will not be a full back for us in trophy winning team ?
