I'd go for this:

Lloris
Sanchez Romero Lenglet
Doherty ----------------- Perisic
Bentancur -- Bissouma
Kulu ----------- Son
Kane
Then this v City:

Lloris
Romero Dier Davies
Emerson --------------- Sessegnon
Bentancur -- PEH
Kulu ----------- Richarlison
Kane

Son loves playing against City

Sanchez shouldn’t be be anywhere near this game or the City game.

I’d bring in Doherty, Perisic, Davies, Bissouma and Kulusevski.

Lloris; Romero, Dier, Davies; Doherty, Bentancur, Bissouma, Perisic; Kulusevski, Kane, Richarlison

I remember being in awe of the Marseille side that were ace in the early 90’s in Europe. The Papin and Waddle side. So I’m glad we are now facing them in Europe’s top competition, won’t be an easy game either.

I’d be very surprised if Davies, Perisic and Kulu don’t rotate back in. The one I’m most curious about is if Royal starts again. Surely he’s got to be rotated at some point.

Seeing him sprinting up and down the wing late on Saturday I had a thought that, stamina wise, he might be one of the best athletes we've had.

Personally think this game is going to be a lot harder than people think a lot of Ex Arsenal players along with ex prem players who will want to prove a point

I didnt realise how many players they had that I knew of from the PL - so I imagine a very PL feel to the game. May suit us but also will be a tough game.

Didn't that team get done for match fixing, and had their European Cup taken off them?

I would be amazed if Son doesn’t start against City if he is fully fit regardless what his for has been like.
In that case he can't start against Marseille imo because otherwise that means we have to rest Kane and Son at the same time for Sporting, I think. We're going to have to get used to the fact that our first teamers are going to have to sit out 10-20% of PL and CL games, and that Lucas and Gil will have to come on as earlier substitutes in matches.

I'd rest Richy for Marseille, Son for City and Kane for Sporting. Kulu Son Kane at the Emirates.

I get the sense that we won't rest two of our starting 4 attackers in the same game.

Son-Kane-Deki
Son-Kane-Richarlison
Richarlison-Kane-Deki
Son-Richarlison-Deki

If injuries hit - maybe Lucas gets a start, or Perisic plays as a LW.

I've got no bloody idea who Conte will pick for this one, tbh. As it's our first European game it's so hard to predict. We might only change 1 or 2 players from the weekend, or it could be 5 or 6.

Feel like only a handful of players are nailed (Lloris, Dier, Hojbjerg, Kane) and almost anyone else could in theory be rotated...perhaps even Kane?

If I had to guess, I'd predict Conte will keep things pretty similar to the weekend and we'll see:

Lloris
Romero Dier Davies
Royal Hojbjerg Bentancur Perisic
Kulu Kane Son

Wouldn't be remotely surprised to see any of Doherty, Richarlison, Lenglet, Bissouma or Sanchez starting either, though.

And they are very good and beating them won't be easy, so yeah exactly.
But they are not very good, they have improved slightly on last yr, but have played no one and when they met an ok team in UTD they fell at the first hurdle. Appreciate your post was pre todays match, but still think we need more than a draw at home against this lot and we should be capable of same, predicting a 2 goal win for us, COYS

On the subject of rotation, when does Dier get a rest and who comes in for him.
I think Dier will be the least rested outfield player in the squad this season.

CBs in general are the most rotation-proof players and that CCB role requires the least running of the lot. Because we defend deep he's rarely 1v1 with anyone and is generally pretty well protected.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if he plays every league and CL game he's fit for and is only rested in the FA/League cups (and even then only against lower league opposition).
