But the whipping boy is Winks, unfairly in my books. He isn't a world beater, he isn't my favourite and I cant say we cant find better but he is what we have, he has some qualities amongst his failings but he certainly isn't the only one who fails sometimes. He is in our midfield which is getting swamped, pressured and doesn't have enough outlets. The whipping boys have shifted between Dier, Winks, Sanchez, Ali, Doherty and Davies. If you ask me our weakest link at the moment is Emerson or our right backs. Dier has performed his way out of that list maybe Doherty could do so due to no other options. I don't think this forum is going to let Winks do that though he has improved (which is why he is playing). There was the talented Nombele that a lot of times couldn't be bothered but some of these posters were prepared to be more forgiving with him than Winks.

I generally stick up for winks for the reasons you have stated. He is not good enough for us imo but he is one is a long list and seems to get much more stick than the rest

Time to protest get these owners out January window was embarrassing and a good indication the board didn't really want to invest for top4

Look at the fucking bench a youth striker

I get being upset about ENIC/Levy to an extent, but the dipshits in the #ENICOut movement would never be able to put together a protest large enough to actually force their hands. It’s just bullshit and so tiresome at this point.

The options are limited tbf what is he supposed to do? We played most of this match with 3 in the midfield and nothing much changed
We changed after 25 minutes and 2-0 down. After that, and notwithstanding that individual mistakes still occurred, we did spend the majority of the last 60 minutes in Wolves' half. Three in the middle might not win us games on its own, but more often than not it gives us a platform where we are not overrun.

Sadly, even with that level of control in midfield, we are so loose around the oppo's box that it's going to be an uphill battle anyway.

I'm not interested it what other clubs are doing. That's always the line trotted out isn't it?

We did really good work in January. I don't think anybody has denied that. But after the absolute CLUSTERFUCK of the last 2 or so years we HAD to nail it over the next few windows amd that meant having a hugely successful January window. Not an average one.

It's just not good enough. LAST SUMMER we knew Doherty was GASH. Two windows we've failed to upgrade. See Sanchez. See Davies.
We did try to upgrade Doherty and Sanchez. We bought Emerson and Romero. Looks like one is gonna work, and one probably isn't. Plenty of time, that could change. But if it does turn out that way, it's perfectly normal. 1 in 2 transfers working out as you hoped is about right. Going by ITK, we'll try again on RWB in the summer. There's also the mitigating factor that Emerson was signed to play RB but is now RWB, and that's also true in the Davies case - we had upgraded him with Reguillon, but he's back in the team because we've changed formation.

You can't say we did "really good work" and that it was "average". And just because the last couple of years were poor, doesn't give you a magic wand to suddenly have the best window ever. If it was that simple, everyone would do it! Listen to the gaffer. This is a project over several years to build us from a side that scrapped into the third tier of European football with two minutes of last season to spare, and started this one even worse, into one that can challenge for honours. Not a project for the first four months.

Of all the teams challenging for CLP's none of them are as far behind the best as us. So it's all relative. We needed to catch up after repeatedly shooting ourselves in the foot since 2017.
No, we wanted to catch up. I want doesn't get. The fact that you wanted us to catch up overnight doesn't suddenly make that a realistic expectation, which is what the professionals at the club will be dealing in.

Better 2nd half. But who gives a shit after we'd already handed them the game in the 1st. I mean, these teams aren't even having to win these games, we are literally giving it to them.

Absolute shit show at the back again, with professionals panicking and unable to even do the fundamentals.
So sick of seeing players with their hands in the air apologising for a bad pass, or giving the ball up in horrendous areas. Forget the apologising, and just stop making the same fucking basic errors every week.

I think we have improve compared to Nuno. There have been good performances against the likes of Leicester and Liverpool to name two and we look like a coached side that at least has an idea of what it's trying to do, even if the players can't pull it off (see: Emerson crossing the ball 1000 times against Watford to no avail). The problem is is that this takes plenty of time (especially without a pre-season) and we also don't have the personnel to suit the manager's system.

There are those two good games longer term since December but all the Chelsea games and the recent collapse of form, I expected some hope. Especially after the training break. Maybe we get an upturn again soon, or Dier and Skipp back.

We've looked like this for so long now. When I watch us, I'm always a little puzzled by how easy it looks for the opposition and how hard it looks for us.

When we attack it's just all out chaos! Kane could be in the box, or playing as a holding midfielder.

Son and Moura could be out wide or Son running off the last defender and Moura turning back to cm to pick the ball up.

Defending we seem to randomly press so we have huge gaps they can pass around us.

Other teams look a lot more structured and know where players will be

Many of our players leave and look better elsewhere. You might not enjoy the Conte experience, but I don't think we'll enjoy the ............(Enter the name of any manager here) Experience. I honestly don't know what it is about our club. It's been a rough ride with 4 different managers, with a couple of world class ones included.

If Conte can't instill belief into this group, who can?
It has to be the players. Numerous managers have tried and failed. Something is rotten with these lazy parasites and until we sort it out we won’t get anywhere.

I’m not melting down over that. The defensive lapses were hugely frustrating but we created loads of threatening situations. Could have been a very different score line, just wasn’t our day.
Element of truth to this. First half we were outplayed and blew our own heads off with a shotgun but Kane and Son fucked absolute sitters that should have seen us level.

Second half we won so many balls in dangerous positions and forced mistakes - we were woeful at taking advantage though. Like… absolutely dreadful.

You can be unhappy at the situation we're in and also accept that it will take time to fix. No one said it's alright, but it is the reality we find ourselves in.
