So, transfer rumors are in full swing, and while I'm sure there will be both ins and outs, I've started to notice that we have a shocking lack of depth. I don't mean depth like what we argue about here, ie. Mason and Chadli aren't good enough, etc. I mean we just don't have the numbers. We currently have just 24 players listed in the first team (including current loans). Arsenal have 34, Liverpool a ludicrous 51 (though that includes some youth players with first team numbers).

I expect Fazio, Yedlin, and one of Carrol/Mason/Pritchard are all going to be moving on. Pochettino has mentioned that he prefers a smaller squad, but does anyone else see this as an issue?

No

As you know clubs can name only a maximum of 25 players aged over 21 in their squads.

In recent years most top 6 clubs have named less, often say 22, - although there may be youngsters in addition.

If you look at Chelsea though, they have 999 others out on loans

Poch isn't one to rotate, soa small squad suits him. You can only play a maximum of 14 players in any match so 24 is fine.
It's quality not quantity that we need.
United were forced into playing a few kids this season, a small squad will give our kids a better chance at success.
