letting it go is the quickest way to get over it.

I'm over it.

I'm over it
in the sense that I don't wake up crying any more.
But whilst not accepting the tired old cliche
that bottling it is in the Spurs DNA
before we just put the lid back on the dustbin of history
there are causes and reasons
that need exploring and arguing and teasing out.
What else are SC forums for.
Physical tiredness Pochettino's team always burn out you know
or in our case more spontaneously explode;
mental tiredness once we realised that the league title had gone
I don't know but I am interested to discuss it
and learn from it
if there is anything there to learn.

You mean "derisive". Not the same thing.

"Derisory" means negligible or insignificant. "Derisive" means scornful and contemptuous.

The Pedant King, signing off.

Maybe.

Maybe I meant the comments themselves were/are insignificant (perhaps in the grand scheme of things). In which case a more apt correction (if any were needed) may well have been derisory comments that are derisive (y)

Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Those who do not remember their past are condemned to repeat their mistakes. Santayana.

It hurts, but if we understand and learn from it
we will cope better in the future.
Need to examine the reasons before we move on.
Shit happens, move on, doesn't do it for me.

Why waste time mulling it over though? The positives from last season far, far outweigh the negatives. So much to look forward to moving forward.

Maybe you have a more pessimistic outlook on life.

davidmatzdorf and I know exactly what you meant

I take your point about positives
and no I'm not usually pessimistic about Spurs or life.
Wanting to know why is not pessimistic at all.
It could be the starting point for even greater things.

To be honest I think this was down to Mauricio.
He wanted to lay down a marker for the Spurs new era
and it backfired badly.
But who knows.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I wouldn't worry, it wasn't Poch that posted that.

There are only a few competitions capable of being won any given season
17 teams "bottled" winning the prem this year.
We were the last one do to so - how are you not proud?

And what exactly backfired?

Finishing above where all of us expected to? Not winning the league we never imagined we were going to be challenging for?

Best GD in the league?

So we waited 32 games this season before we went on a woeful run. We waited till we were beyond conceivably winning anything before we took our eyes off the invisible prize of finishing above arsenal.

Like you said this is a NEW era so give it a minute and actually allow this team to grow an make mistakes because this is life and its football and mistakes happen and shit happens. if you cant recall the turmoil were were in just 2 seasons ago then i urge you to do so and learn a little bit about somehting called patience.

if being now the 3rd best team in the entire country with some of the most exciting prospects in British and potentially world football challenging for the title, in the champions league playing exciting, progressive football in which we are hard to beat doesn't float your boat and doesn't cheer you up then perhaps you need to learn about about context and circumstance and perhaps you need to aim a little higher than allowing an entire season of positives to be wiped out because we didnt finish above arsenal.

We are a team who have progressed massively and if you are not going to enjoy the ride I just dont see the point in coming along for it. You might as well just start watching us every year after we have no way of winning anything again and judge us on how well we do from then.

I'm not shutting it down. But it has been thoroughly discussed.

I don't remember many if any posts like this in the aftermath of Chelsea winning the CL which meant we missed out. Redknapp himself tried to put a positive spin on it but there weren't many listeners.
