Does that club actually have a plan in terms of transfers or do they just go after the most random of players. If it's true of course.

Townsend is a perfect Crystal Palace player.
Decent pace, boatload of tricks, will make defenders look silly on occasion. Simple English fans will rave about him and yet there will be almost no end product, just a lot of dribbles completed on the stat sheet and some dead pigeons in the rafters.

Nolito is a very good signing for City. Far more end product than Sterling and is used to playing in a high press system under another Bielsa disciple at Celta.
United signing both Ibrahimovic and Mkhitaryan is a bit of game-changer. They were excellent at the back last season, but had no goals in them. I'm sure some will disagree, but they are title contenders with those two signings and Mourinho in charge. No signings they've made in the last three seasons are anywhere near as good as these two (Di Maria always wanted to go to PSG and was badly misused by LVG).
Without European football, Chelsea could also be back in the mix given they have arguably the best tactian in the world in Conte, but they need serious defensive reinforcements. Maybe if they signed Kante, Bonucci, and another attacker like Mahrez, they'd be in the mix, too.
If one of the two Manchester clubs signs Pogba, they'll be title favorites in my opinion.

Fantastic signing for Utd, really, really annoying and such great value as well. Shame we didn't try for him. Utd making some good moves, and to think they don't even have CL.

I've said the same since Mourinho got confirmed as the new Utd manager. However, as was pointed out to me, Mourinho doesn't like/rate Mata because he doesn't do the 'ugly stuff' like tracking back, closing down & getting stuck in etc.
So as much as we'd like him, it's highly unlikely Poch would? But I do agree, he'd be brilliant in helping us with the bus parkers. Also, as @millsey says, he'd most likely be on massive wages, too. So that's another obstacle we'd be unlikely to get past.

We cant offer wages or transfer fees like Utd can and that for many is the deal breaker this as you say is a great buy for them.
Utd and City will be so much better this coming season than previous which will make top four a tougher prospect, i dont think we will make it this time around so i will savour the moment until maybe another time.
If we did back to back top four finishes that in itself would be achievement the title is imo out of the question with the usual suspects buying up some quality signings.

I dont think we will get top four which is not a negative view but more of a realistic one of what we can afford or are likely to do.
Dont get me wrong Im happy with last year despite the last couple of weeks so not complaining, but yes i promise no more predictions until sept at least
