Alderweireld was absolutely magnificent his first season with us but Jan was and has been better ever since. Nothing you will say will convince me of any different.
Not trying to convince you mate, just giving my opinion which is all this forum is about really, opinions :)

Wilmot withdrawn from squad as club in talks over transfer

Stevenage have confirmed that teenage star Ben Wilmot has been withdrawn from the squad that travels to Newport tomorrow as negotiations over his transfer continue.

Chairman Phil Wallace said "Ben came back from International Duty with England last week and we have had developments that suggest a deal will be agreed shortly for him to move when the window opens.

"We have had interest from Premier League and Championship clubs, which is not surprising when Ben is recognised by England as being one of the top four centre halves at his age level, with the other three coming from Man City, Chelsea and Spurs.

"We have made public our valuation and the closer we are getting to that the more likely it is that Ben will move."
Which young Spurs centre back is he referring to?

I would take Jay Rodriguez still as would add some nice depth up top and Poch has got the best out of him before.

I’m also warming to getting Luke Shaw if price is right.

These are both players that could come in and up their game with us.

I'm still hoping Toby can be pursuaded to stay, bit like Ozils last min turnaround. I agree as a club we can't be held to ransom but imo we cant keep this successful curve going if we keep selling our best players and Toby IS OUR BEST CB, Walker was our best rb and Rose is our best lb.
The big clubs are not gonna put ridiculous bids in for Trippier, Sanchez or Davies. They want these guys for a reason.
We are, like it or not, slowly being picked apart by vultures.
Whether we can do much about it remains to be seen.

I thought Vertonghen was our best centre back?

Anyone who thinks Jan hasn't been our best CB in the last two season hasn't been paying attention, it's not even worth debating.

Just ridiculous to suggest otherwise.

Looking at the fixtures I’d really fancy Fulham to get 2nd. Cardiff have 4 away and 2 home. Fulham 3 and 3 and virtually all bottom half teams. No idea how that would impact Sessegnon. He may decide to stay another year. Might do a buy loan back.

Not sure why some people have turned an opinion about losing TA, Walker and Rose leaving us weaker as a team into who's the best out of TA and Verts!!! Thats irrelevant and you're missing the point.
As is the arguement we've been doing ok without them so it doesnt matter. I could argue we'd have done better than we have WITH them which I'm fairly confident would have been the case (fully fit and behind the team).
They're all very very good players.
Thats why the big money boys are after them and not after Davies, Trippier and Sanchez.
Anyway enough. Boring.

I think Rodriguez would be a good option and also, more importantly, a realistic one. He'd jump at the chance to come to us and play for Poch again, he'd be sensible money and sensible wages and offers a wide/striker option off the bench we really need. However, I got neg reps when I suggested him before so presumably some people seem to think we should go for, presumably Martial or some other pie in the sky.

But where does he fit in? I don't get why people want to sign this Kane backup when we already have our backup in the squad.
