I can’t see wilmot happening unless we are gonna let CCv go. We’d have foyth Ccv wilmot scrapping for game time. And that’s not even factoring in tanganga and Lyons-foster coming.

But where does he fit in? I don't get why people want to sign this Kane backup when we already have our backup in the squad.
He's English trained too. Which could allow us to get rid of Janssen and Llorente and this have a foreign squad spot elsewhere.

I'm talking about Son

Still nice to have further options given number of competitions we are contesting.

Rodriguez wouldn’t kick up a massive fuss not being man starter either and would fit into squad nicely.

Just gives a bit more flexibility.

OK fine but we're struggling to fit our forwards in as it is, how much game time does Lucas have since he's signed?

I get the need for options but we need to have a balance, having too many players up there is just overkill and seeing as we'be proved that we can play without Kane we don't need Rodriguez IMO

It’s not just a case of not needing Rodriguez he’s also not good enough. Although a completely different player to Llorente they’re both not up to the standard we now need and expect. If and I say if we’re looking to bring in another forward (once we’ve given away Llorente and Janssen) then they need to be a hungry, young, eager to impress and most importantly a potent threat. Utd would never sell him to us but someone in the Rashford mould. There’s no point spouting out random names as I’m sure Poch and the scouts etc have players in mind. It will be interesting to see what happens with Son as as it stands he’s ample cover for Kane but given there’s rumours he’ll be playing at the WC and then the Asian games he’s going to be missing for the start of next season and most likely burnt out.

At the moment we have Son as back up to Kane, but as the Chelsea game showed, Son can be much more effective playing from wide areas. We also have Llorente and Janssen but they don't get used because Llorente is too static and Janssen hasn't made the grade. Rodriguez has been in decent form for WBA and offers the double option of a wide player or a striker with plenty of pace. Ship out Llorente and Janssen and bring Rodigue in and we have a spare place for a non HG player. It's all well and good people saying he's not up to our standard (which is debatable because there is no evidence) but we're not going to sign a Martial, Rashford type to sit on our bench.

See my post further up the thread - we're really not struggling when it comes to the HG quota.

I think Rodriguez may have a point to prove still as well.

With us he can work with a higher level of players and get to a better level of fitness.

But just an option.

Not the best example if you're citing a match which we won without Kane is it? Besides we won't play Chelsea without Kane every week and Son has already proved himself in that role for 2 seasons now.

Whoever we get in will suffer the same fate as Janssen and Llorente, they won't have a run of games to get into the groove, Rodriguez playing week in week out won't be the same as Rodriguez playing every 5/6 games.

We really don't need to touch the front 4. Kane, Eriksen, Dele, Son, Lamele, Moura, Llorente is a lot of competition for 4 players. The argument of upgrading with a more versatile player is predicated on the assumption that sed player would get more time on the pitch generally, so therefore be sharper. This argument is severely flawed because Eriksen, Dele, Son, Lamela and Moura are already there, proving their worth at a very high level and competing for three spots (and, in reality, it's Son, Lamela and Moura competing for one spot). Any Llorente replacement will have the exact same struggles as he has had, and as Janssen had. We should keep those options the same, ship out Nkoudou and Janssen when they return, and if there's an 8th slot to be filled by an attacker let one of our many promising young attackers have a crack at it.

Replace Toby if he leaves with an appropriate player for the role left over. Replace Rose if he leaves. Replace Vorm if he leaves. Try to sell Sissoko and replace with a player who we'd trust as a first choice player so that we don't shit ourselves every time Dembele is injured or off form.

Watching this Villa v Norwich game. I have to say that James Maddison has been really impressive once again.

He’d be an excellent squad option, especially at times when Eriksen is out.

We have to be in for him, i would be disappointed if we missed out on this player, have really liked him since his Coventry days and think he technique is superb for an English player especially. Think Poch could turn him into a monster player.

I make the point every transfer window, but Pochettino likes that 'focal point' Number 9 type who can hold the ball up and bring others into the game. He's used them all his managerial career..... Osvaldo at Espanyol and (briefly) Soton, Lambert obviously and Poch had their main backup at 9 as some lanky kid called Gallagher who has never played PL football since, and then at Spurs Kane fulfils this (plus a lot more...) and the two back ups in recent seasons that haven't quite worked out.

If there is a clear out up top I'd expect yet another in this mould.

Whether he’s good enough for us I don’t know but Ekambi (Angers) striker is scoring for fun this season. I know he’s been linked with Burnley and a few mid table prem sides. A potential bargain

Arnautovic is such a handful always makes things happen.

Very inconsistent and a questionable attitude though. He definitely has the ability and is no slouch, he's tall as well at 6'3". He just doesn't enjoy the hard work which just won't do in this Poch team.
