Surprised Mason played no part and Dombaxe did, perhaps injured?

Or just not that good.....I know it sounds harsh, but he hasnt set the world alight in any of his many loan spells, yet I keep hearing Spurs fans hyping him up as prospect. He was a prospect about 4 years ago, the sad truth is he just clearly hasnt developed since. No shame in it, happens to alot of players, Bostock ect ect.

Here's a higher quality video of Bale's goal (than what is floating around). Seems a quality strike.

Sigs and Holtby are going to be hugely important for us this season. Teams are going to park the bus most weeks. Even when playing at home.

Just got back from the match. Wil do a full write up tomorrow.

NO 433. At all. 4411. Dombaxe with an awful cross field ball that got cut out, caulker did well to get across but in blocking the shot it looped over brad giving him no chance. Lloris had a smart stop first half, Brad with a superb save from Luongo. Defoe hit the bar, Bale had one cleared off the line. Luongo and Hall stood out, Pritchard not so much.

We were pretty crap, but never really got going.

Lennon and Townsend were very LM and RM and kept swapping over sides. Ceballos and Bale both strict LM and RM respectively. Gylfi then Dombaxe both behind a striker. Bentaleb, Daws, Bale, Brad, Hudd and Lloris only one to really have any credit. Not much though.

Rose looked a nightmare waiting to happen then went off injured. Townsend looked the best player on the pitch when he beat a player, thn tried to beat 3 more and lost it. And Walker even out did his own Shittest Cross Competion with a pearler. Was an awful effort!

These two were hardly successful in breaking down teams last year, so what gives you the impression next year is going to be different?

The change in system will help, hopefully coupled with a striker that the opposition defence should give the tiniest speck of shit about.

Siggy was shunted around the houses anyways and not really given a proper run at AM which is his position. Holtby did about what I expected him to. Struggle to immediately adapt to a different league in a new team.

First game of pre-season hardly a shocker. Not sure there is much to be taken from this other than 45 minutes of football oriented running.

In terms of looking at results and performances, the home game vs Espanyol and the games in Hong Kong will show that better. This and Colchester are just fitness exercises (every club does it). Once AVB doesn't sub so many at half-time, then we get a better idea of everything.

Totally agree. We need way better than these two players. I hope this window does not turn into yet another missed opportunity. It's blatantly obvious we need more creativity and passing range in midfield.

Which match were you at!? Quite a few points I disagree with here. I think at least in the first half, it was clearly a 4-3-3. Just because Sigurdsson got into advanced positions, doesn't mean it was 4-4-1-1. Players are allowed to roam, you know! Bentaleb got into as many key areas as Sigurdsson did. I don't think he was sitting back at all, whether he was there to play the same splitting passes that Sigurdsson did or not.

I also thought Pritchard stood out head and shoulders above the rest of their players. Hall was solid, I didn't even notice Luongo was playing until the second half. I was also under the impression that Dombaxe wasn't much of an AM by trade, again, just got forward a couple of times.

Rose also, was he injured? Right before Fryers came on, during a drinks break, AVB went over to Rose and seemed to be explaining why he'd come off. I knew immediately what was happening. Surely if he was injured, he wouldn't need telling?

Townsend definitely brought a sense of excitement and expectation every time he got the ball. The only player who seemed capable of making a difference in the second half. The two lineups were worlds apart in terms of quality and also fitness, I felt. Bale looked sharp, didn't seem strained at all. Even Huddlestone looked at a similar fitness level to his last run of PL games. If anyone, arguably he would struggle the most after a break. The players looked in decent shape in general, no one was obviously struggling.
