Looks like this will continue then…

In fairness to them they’ve been accurate with us for a few years.

Sounds like he will be first in the door. I wonder who else we are serious about. I like the sound of Pjanic on a loan deal reports personally.

Does anyone remember Toda? Played under Hoddle. I remember against Utd in 2003.
Terrible player, in my worst ten ever. I’m sure that this kid will be an improvement !

Personal anecdote - toda moved to Singapore at the end of his career and after he retired, he still played socially with the other jap expats. Singapore spurs played against him once in a friendly, and he was head and shoulders and a class more above us. We couldn’t even foul him as we couldn’t get near him enough. (a lot of i in this we cos I was the AM to him being DM). Technically sound, simple pass and move.

First time we played with someone who played at epl standards. And like you said, he was deemed a failure. Really showed the huge gulf between epl and him, and then him and us. Loved this memory.

Ally Gold in his new video says sounds like a pretty close deal. He also says the club view him as a base 4 RB that shifts to RCB that turns into a back 3 in possession allowing Reguilon to attack.

I really love this kind of signing, moving away from it ties in with our decline. Under Pochettino there were a couple of duds and as a result it seems we gave up on uncovering young talent before they peaked. So many of my favourite players for us have been guys that I’d seen little or none of.

Edit: just watched this video, this guy has cult hero written all over him…

Thanks for info.

None of that passing forward crap for us. Couple of training sessions with Dier and Sanchez and they will teach you how to pass backwards...that’s how we like it.

Oh and we don’t like our cbs doing all that pass and move stuff either. Winks will have a fit if he sees that.

Oh god not the dreaded tucked in full back that Mourinho was initially obsessed with ?

It all depends how the players are coached to be fluid. I like the idea that we’d be a 4-4-2 out of possession and a 3-4-3 in possession.

Plus, surely Doherty is nailed on to start as s WB under Nuno, so expect 3-4-3 rather than 4-4-2 anyway.

Anderson/Kounde, the Japanese lad and Rodon would make a great back 3.

From the looks of him he’s comfy in more or less any position in defence so I can’t see him getting pigeon holed into one role honestly. Think his versatility will be really useful tactically.

Not that lop sided shit again
Eh. Lots of teams do at least something somewhat lobsided to get an extra attacker up and not leave the defense too exposed. Pep and City do it all the time having their fullbacks just become midfielders. It's not the tactic it's the coaching and execution.

That said my concern is more with two defensive RB/CB hyrbids plus old man Doherty we basically have to pray Reggie never gets injured and we get the good Reggie we saw at the start of last season and not the awful Reggie we saw at the end.

Or £25M Sessegnon becomes our replacement LWB?

I'd like that but would like to see some reporting indicate that. Suspect Sess will come back to be evaluated by Nuno then a decision made.

You'll be shocked, play against a semi-pro player on £100 a week and the levels above are embarrassing.

I won a competition as a junior Spurs member (a poetry one I I remember correctly) and I got to watch a training session and have a meet and greet with the players afterwards. Him and Stefan Freund were the only players who stayed and had an actual conversation with me and my dad. Most signed my autograph book. Poyet stormed off half way through the training session and when I asked Sheringham to sign my book, he walked past me like I was trying to sell him a big issue.

Italy does it very good so far too in the Euros with Spinazzola as attacking left back. It will be interesting to see if Mourinho tries it again with Spinazzola in Roma.

With that said I really enjoy Golds articles of lately but I'm not sure he already know how we will actually play.

Not to derail this too much but my mates ended up playing a 40 year old Lee Trundle in 5-a-side once and they said he was so much better that playing against him was literally no fun whatsoever and was actually border line depressing. Becoming pro at any level is a mental standard to achieve.

Italy do it with Di Lorenzo sitting and forming a back three. It allows Spinazzola to have the freedom to get forward at every opportunity without worrying too much defensively.

Also, it allows all three midfielders to push up more.

Watch Italy tomorrow to see how effective it can be.

It sucked under Jose cause he denied this opportunity for our midfielders. Essentially Aurier would push forward put we'd still have 5 players deep. Two in the middle of the pitch and only Kane, Son & Ndombele in the final third.

It caught teams out earlier in the season until they clocked on and overloaded Aurier's side.

This seems to be the obvious flaw in it for me. The basic principle of one fullback pushing on whilst the other tucks in and makes a back three seems fine, but I can't help thinking you need to be able to do it either way. If it's always the same fullback pushing on and always the same one tucking in then it becomes predictable and it's much easier to counter.

A manager like Nuno who plays WBs will be perfect for Sess, and I expect both him and Reg to get plenty of game time.

It didnt help that Aurier was/is massively overrated going forward aswell.
