They're patting themselves on the back for stealing him from under our noses but the reality (to anybody with eyes) is that we had a choice between him and Emerson, we made the choice and they took the other player.
They can pat themselves all they like. It'll take a lot more than him (and their other signings) to improve that group to the level they want to be at.

not saying its not different, i always feel Koreans are more open to change and their culture makes it easier to adapt to different lifestyles.

anyway... he is arse now... so i am sure we all hope he doesn;t do well.
Not really. Outside football, they both tend to live with their own culture in many aspects and it is hard to say who are more open, really depending on your perspectives. But for football, it is a different story. Japanese footballers are all over the smaller Asian countries and even African countries as foreign players. Quite a number of them become legends in those countries, and some even stay there after their career. You can imagine some of those countries do not even have basic football infrastructure and modern level society, but they can adapt to any environment for their dream as a professional footballer.

A more possible reason for Korean > Japanese in EPL is on the physical side. Korean footballers are generally stronger in stamina and physical strength, while Japanese footballers are stronger in techniques and passing . Therefore, Korean footballers adapt better in England as the league is more physical. Also, for the technical players, it is more difficult to gain a spot as you are competing with the Spanish and South American players, who are the dominating ones in football.

Okazaki and Yoshida are playing well. Why? Okazaki is a hard-working player who enjoys running all over the pitch. Yoshida is tall and physical comparing to most Asian players.

Tomiyasu is a good player. Very tenacious, physically good enough, hard-working, technically sound. He doesn't have a place in our side as he is pretty much a replica of Tanganga, and with our attacking shortcomings we absolutely needed an Emerson type of RB as opposed to another Tanganga.

Like Tanganga, I think Tomiyasu will have to eventually decide between CB/RB. This is similar to Corluka back in the day...good player but not one or the other, and ultimately that limited him (along with pace).
