you do realise we've been playing 4-2-3-1 recently? and, are you aware that Arsenal play though the middle generally speaking? - going 4-4-2 against them in particular is fucking suicide.
Just having a light heated joke about you stacking the players on top of each other. I'd like to see your side get a go.

Can't believe someone actually wanted to injure huddlestone to prevent him from playing in the game, joke or not, Its disgraceful that any fan would wish injury on one of our players.

Had a quick gander at one of the scum forums to see what they make of the fixture and a couple of them noted something that I hadn't seen picked up on in here. I didn't see the Belgium game but apparently Vertonghen looked a bit jaded and was being caused a lot of problems by a fairly inexperienced forward. It made me think and I have noticed he's form at LB has dropped off a bit. Is there something up that we've missed? Good news is that a few of them were also saying that Carzola's form has dropped off in the last month so there's at least one positive for us!

I can see Walcott potentially giving Vertonghen a nightmare and that's not because I rate Walcott, because I don't, but he's still fucking fast.

I can't see Carroll starting so I'm not even going to think of that one, but I really hope Sigurdsson starts over Dempsey. His constant eye for a killer pass has been his weakness so far IMO but he's the only person capable of actually producing clear chances in our central midfield.

We've played quite narrow for a lot of the games this season, especially with Lennon where he's been roaming inside a lot but I hope we utilise the wings a lot this time as apposed to the dreadful lack of such against City, because if not I can't see us scoring.

Lloris friedel

Walker Dawson Gallas caulker Verts naughton

Livermore Sandro

Ade (bale needs a rest)

Keep it like this until we take the lead and then bring some defensive subs on to see out the game.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

Going to be a tough game, and not sure what i make of it, as in terms of form we are not that far apart, and playing at home has not had the effect of previous years.

I hope we put in a performance, but if we just let them have the ball i can see us being punished, i know we wont have more possession then them but if we can keep it respectable we could cause them some issues, if we just give it back to them then we could be in trouble.

Not sure i will be able to watch it anyway, so will have to get the delayed stats from the BBC

Lloris, Kaboul, Parker, Dembele. That's four key players right there, of which one is considered world-class in his position. We're also missing BAE from our usual first team line-up and a first-choice CB is being forced to play at LB.

This is the team I believe AVB should put out:

(4411)
Lloris
Walker Caulker Vertonghen Naughton
Bale Carroll Sandro Lennon
Adebayor Defoe

But if we're going 4231 then imo it should be:

Lloris
Walker Gallas Caulker Naughton
Sandro Vertonghen
Lennon Gylfi Bale
Adebayor

He won't play either of those, not even close, he'll go with pretty much exactly the same line-up he went for at City.

I don't like naughton at left back. He looks very uncomfortable on the ball there as he refuses to use his left foot, which makes him a liability. And offers nothing going forward on the left.
I happily start him ahead of walker at the minute though. He's a good player, just not a left back.
Dembele and Kaboul yes, but Lloris is fit and available so not a loss, its self inflicted. Parker will arguably start perhaps in this game, but maybe not. I'd start him. AVB might not. Dembele is the one we miss most. Benny too perhaps. But Dembele is the one we simply can't replace.

4411: Friedel
Naughton Gallas Caulker Vertonghen
Sandro Carroll
Lennon Siggy Bale
Ade

I would obviously prefer Lloris but I just know AVB is gonna go for Friedel. Would also start Naughts at RB if Walker has a knock. Siggy in-place of Dempsey for me and Carroll deserves a start! COYS!

I predict the same XI as we got at Citeh, and Wigan. The only change will probably be Defoe back in for Ade just to really grind my gears. Would love Lloris, Naughton and Sig to come in, with Verts back in at CB as his form at LB has nose-dived

So my worst case XI without Lennon, defoe, assou, Parker, dembele, Kaboul, Sandro and Walker

-------------------------Lloris----------------------
Naughton--Gallas--------------Caulker----Vertonghen
-------------Huddlestone-----Carroll-----------------
Falque--------------Sigurdsson-----------bale----
-------------------------Adebayor----------------

Subs: Friedel - Dawson, Livermore, Parrett, Mason, Dempsey, Townsend

Isn't Livermore injured

Are you seriously suggesting resting our best player for the biggest game of the season? Harry, is that you?

Dempsey just can't start, I don't wanna hate on the guy and I'm not gonna start calling him shit but I can't deny that I'll be pissed off if I see him in the starting eleven.

There is a bit of that for sure. Mostly out of an inability to recognise that this team is vastly different to last season's. Some decisions though, we'll they've left me scratching my head at times and I was and still am largely positive about the appointment.

Still, we gave it the old college try when we had the likes of Kerslake in the team. I mustn't be too pouty.

Which decisions have left you scratching your head? I am genuinely interested. Bear in mind of course that every manager makes decisions that are questionable. But mostly because we are not in full possession of the facts and possibly because nine of us have ever managed a top flight professional football team.

I am all for questioning and discussing decisions but a little humility would be good. You do realise all of us on here are losers and have never achieved anything of real note (BC obviously excepted) and when our time comes we will just return to being dust.

Same here.

I know Siggy hasn't been fantastic, but at least in some of his appearances he has shown some flashes of quality. I've seen Siggy play some smart through balls, make some nice tackles in defense, and also get himself into position to score goals that aren't just tap ins.

I'm much more willing to roll through troubles with a 22 year old kid that is still figuring out a new position but has shown signs of being able to contribute, than a guy who is 29 years old with no more upside to be found, completely and utterly looks like a weak link in the attack, and apart from a few tap ins has shown just about nothing.

I think we need to take the game to them in order to win, something we have not been doing this season. Considering ade was very very deep against city and did most of his good work outside of the box and in the channels I would go with.

For some reason I'm sitting here just getting pretty much infuriated about our luck with injuries. When are these fucking players going to get back, Kaboul, Ekotto, Parker, Dembele, and now people are saying that Defoe and Lennon are injured? Plus AVB won't pick some of our best players (Lloris for example).

This shit really pisses me off.

I think we need to take the game to them in order to win, something we have not been doing this season.

I've gotta say this is what pissed me off mostly about the City game and the Chelsea game, the fact that we could have hurt and worried them so much more and in the few times that we did take a bit of initiative in those games we really worried them but we weren't able to do it anywhere near enough times.

This is the one game though out of all 3 of those games in which I'd be the most cautious though, because Chelsea and City are more of a static team than Arsenal so the sit back approach worked maybe more than it should but we really have to get the balance of our play right against Arsenal. Sit back like we did against United in the 2nd half and for practically the whole of the City game and we'll be punished. Like said we have to give them a lot to worry about which we can certainly do with the players we have.
