This has quite likely been asked before, but is it possible to be penalised for fielding a second eleven in the Europa?

As long as the team is from the 25 man squad, there's no case to answer. And we could probably get away with at least one youth player.

Poch has made his bed here. Kids and fringe would be my call. Cant help butvthink hes gonna frig our key players some more in a hopeless situation.

Think he'll go

Vorm
Trips
Toby
Wimmer
Davies

Mason
Dier

Carroll
Chadli
Son

Kane

We should absolutely play our second string with a Tony Pulis style tactic to keep the scoreline respectable.

Unfortunately I can see Poch playing the big guns which would in my opinion be ludicrous.

I think Dortmund will score regardless if we field our strongest team or not. No way we're scoring 5 then...

I will be very frustrated to see any core first teamers in the squad let alone on the pitch. The players need rest, Bournemouth is a must win, we should not do anything to jeopardise that.

Got this odd feeling he'll start Kane, hope he doesn't but... I want:

Lloris
Trippier
Davies
CCV
Wimmer

Bentaleb
Onomah

Mason
Carroll
Chadli

Son

Would even like to rest Hugo but no.

To play the first teamers this time, after resting them first leg and being 3-0 down would be be a joke. Simple as that.

I don't mind playing a weakened team but playing in a defensive, negative Pulis style is absolutely unforgivable.

I had a dream last night - I went to the pub to watch the match but got there late. Spurs were 6-0 up with 60 minutes played.

I'm not sure I can read much into it though as Jermaine Defoe was playing for us...

I'm not sure if the stats might back this up, but I wonder if there could be a significant difference in this being a home game. It's one thing to rest players when travelling across Europe, with some not making the trip at all. It's another when it's at WHL. I expect a stronger line-up tonight that in the away leg. A side more like the one we field in most EL matches, namely a mix of first XI and squad players. I also expect the likes of Kane and Lamela to feature again even if not from the start. If we do somehow get 1-0 or 2-0 up, he'll throw Kane and the big guns in.

Predicted team:
Lloris
Trippier Alderweireld Wimmer Davies
Mason Bentaleb
Son Onomah Lamela
Chadli

Surely Poch is too savvy to risk a full strength team. We threw in the towel and I think, having done that, there is absolutely no point going full strength.

Rest players, motivate those who go out to try to make amends and restore some pride, sure. I do not want to see Harry, mousa, dele or Eric on that pitch (the only situation would be if, by some absolute miracle, we find ourselves 3-0 up!).

Dortmund are a great side and I for one feel no shame in going out to them, especially with the compromises that needed/need to be made based on our unexpected yet fantastic league position.

I hope you're right mate because if he does I can't defend it.

I think it will be a pretty strong team.

We needed to rest players last week off the back of the West Ham and Arsenal games. Villa was like a training match for most of the game, and the players that were rested will more than likely be feeling pretty fresh. I don't buy the fatigue thing as much as some, I don't think we're as tired as people have been desperate to assert since November.

There'll be no Dembele or Eriksen, Walker and Rose will be rotated, but other wise I reckon it's full strength. Probably something like this?

Lloris
Trippier Alderweireld Wimmer Davies
Dier Mason
Lamela Alli Son/Chadli
Kane

Maybe Onomah in for someone, potentially Carroll might get a start again, or even Bentaleb.

There's no way (IMO) he picks the weakest team he can as some are suggesting he should.

Some of you might as well start throwing your tantrums now :p

EDIT: In fact, i'm going to make triple sure i'm in the match thread when the teams are announced, it'll be hugely entertaining.
