I dont want Llorente any where near the first team, despite him using his hip to head us into the semis!

Lloris

Toby ____Sanchez ____ Verts

KWP _____ Sissoko ____ Wanyama _____ Eriksen ____ Rose

Moura ____ Dele
And before you criticise my inclusion of Walker-Peters, AJAX was brave enough to play quite a few experienced young players and they have done well. So Poch should stick to his words and be brave also!

Praying for a narrow win and a clean sheet. Fearing a 1-3 reverse. The way they've taken out Real Madrid and Juventus is scary.

Doesn’t sound like winks will make it. Actually doesn’t sound good at all for him. I wonder if we will see him this season?

https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...review-midfield-frenkie-de-jong-a8890551.html

“But the Winks situation is even more important. That long run of games he played has led to a stress injury in his hip, from overwork. The issue is that this is not a conventional muscle injury that will heal on a conventional timeframe. For now at least, it is a problem that needs to be managed.

Look back at that one standout Spurs performance in recent months – City at home – and that was the only game of the last nine that Winks started. He had injections to get him through that, and it worked, as he provided an tempo and fluidity to the Spurs midfield that they desperately needed. But since then he has been in too much pain to play and Spurs have seriously missed him.”

Sounds like a King or Dembele situation where we need to assess him day to day...very worrying considering his age.

Wants quality into the box, leaves Trippier out for Foyth.
The quality coming from Vertonghen out wide like as he did against Dortmund did you not read what I said?

With Foyth I think he'd be better defensively than Trippier bare in mind it looks like Sissoko might not make it.

Shit. At 23 years of age that isn't good. We miss him so much in midfield, not even for his composure but his chasing down too.

If Trippier is fit he must start, he is still our best RB. If Vert is fit he starts at centre back with Toby, this pairing is as good a centre back pairing as any. This is not the game for rolling the dice and hoping. Davies or Rose are fine at LB for this game.

Llorente has been playing better in champions league, wouldn't be against starting him, especially without Son, we lack attacking options.

Hope it's true Sissoko is back.

Vertonghen played left wingback against Dortmund and was man of the match. He was our best attacking player that night. Trippier is to weak defensively Rose can't cross a ball... Vertonghen with Davies playing in a three on the left with Alderweireld and Sanchez is a viable attacking alternative.

I’ve changed my mind about this one. We have been leggy and have too many creative players missing or out of form. I think we need to put out a big team and show we’ve learnt from the dark arts. Whilst De Ligt is dominant in the air, the rest of the Ajax team is not the biggest. We should be looking to use Moura and Dele to win free kicks in the last third and then hope Eriksen, and Trippier have decent deliveries in their boots! And save Rose, Sissoko and Winks (and the returning Son) for the second leg.

Lloris
Dier Sanchez Toby
Trippier Dele Wanyama Verts
Moura Eriksen
Llorente

When we have set pieces we’d have seven 6’+ players in the box...

Dier
Sanchez
Toby
Verts
Wanyama
Dele
Llorente

Whoever De Ligt marks should take him away from the danger area and try and get Toby or Dier (or Dele) in a 1-on-1 aerial battle with Blind.

Be aggressive and manage the game. Keep it slow and keep possession. Don’t let them use their fresh legs against us.

I’d love it if Kane was fit and firing, Dele and Eriksen were bang in form, Son was available, Winks and Sissoko were fully fit and ready to dominate and control central midfield. But none of that is the case so I think we need a prudent and practical approach.

Sorry, but who are they putting these good deliveries into the box for? As springy as Lucas is, it's different winning balls in the box against DeLigt and co.

Trippier and Llorente both need to start and will be crucial for us IMO.

I do think we will play Verts left back with Sanchez and Toby in the middle with Trippier right back.

Verts on the left and Trippeier right both putting in crosses is a good option given Llorente will most likely play.

Good delivery into the box is a very good weapon of attack it doest always have to be in the air also Vertonghen quality going forward is another means of attack.... We really need to get Dele Alli firing and making those runs and imo Vertonghen going forward is brilliant and always has been.

It doesn't, but you're still being rather silly with your Trippier bias.

Two players who got us there, immediately dropped. Somehow doubt the manager will go that way tbh.

Ok, accepting I know nothing

If at all possible play and risk Winks tues with elephant strength pain killers, then rest him again for the 2nd leg when we have Sissoko and Song back

Really think we should make this a physical game. Ruffle them up physically and hit them on the break.

Sissoko being fit is so crucial. Given Poch hasn't ruled him out, I am going to assume he will play.

My XI :

Lloris,
Toby, Sanchez, Jan
Foyth,Sissoko,Wanyama, Rose
Eriksen, Dele, Lucas

If Sissoko isnt available, then I would play Dier.
