84%. I just told you this. Is this trick question ?

I obviously watch games better than you because I don't mistake the odd very poor pass for several.

And this season Modric has given the ball away more than Palcios and quite a few times in dangerous places such as yesterday against Wigan, and other times like Villa away, that nearly led to goals.

No, it's not a trick question at all, what gave you that impression? The point you missed is that obviously a player like Modric who controls and dictates style of play, tempo and such and therefore looks for and has the ball more often is more susceptible to giving it away than a Palacios type player. I'm loathe to bring in the 'forward passing against sideways passing' point as it's been done to death, but again, there is more risk in the type of passing Modric attempts than those Palacios does. If Modric attempted 100 passes during a game and had an 84% success rate, that's pretty good going. If Palacios attempted 20 passes and had negligibly different success rate of 86%, that's less impressive...

I'm not in denial that Modric never gives it away, and I've seen little of yesterday's game, but no one in our team keeps and moves the ball constructively towards creating attacks better than Modric, surely you can realise that?

If Bale's fit, would LOVE to see him at left back, which is where he'll eventually become a footballing legend. Put Lennon in front of him and enjoy watching each playing to their strengths - Bale's wide play/long runs and Lennon's cuts to the center. Fill out the midfield with Sandro, Hudd, and Modric. Who cares about up top, they've all sucked anyway. I guess Crouch could at least get a head on the crosses from Bale.

We're going to the bernabau, not brighton.

We need to put out our strongest back 4 and that is BAE at LB. Bale would be wasted at LB as Ramos will play way up the pitch for the majority of the game pushing bale deep into defence

OPs team is the only one we should be picking

Which is why we shouldn't pick the side BBLG is picking.

Modric/Sandro with two wingers is suicide against Madrid's midfield away from home.

Yea agreed.

Attack, probably more in terms of counter attacks with Lennon and Bale may be our best defence in a sense. I personally don't think we'd be able to do what we did against Milan again against Madrid on Tuesday.

Probably, but I still think it's better than going with Huddlestone who is just coming back from a long term injury and gets bypassed in midfield away from home anyways

What team would you pick if Bale was deemed fit to start?

I see you on Huddlestone and wouldn't be upset with playing JJ and Sandro as they can both cover a lot of ground, if Bale was 'fit' I probably still wouldn't play him.

If they're getting overrun VDV will drop deep to help in midfield, which basically ruins the point of playing Crouch, it happened against AC Milan at home I believe.

Which is why I think we should not play Crouch, play Huddlestone in midfield with Modric and Sandro, Bale (right) and Lennon (left) as wide forwards, and VDV playing up front as well. Won't happen though. Instead we'll hoof it up to Crouch, lose possession immediately, VDV will drop deep, we'll inexplicably not play it out to our wingers because certain players will just be tempted to aim at Crouch instead. Hope I'm wrong though.

On the bright side I bet Sandro will be our best player again and possibly win the game for us!

Tottenham Hotspur face Real Madrid on Tuesday 5th April 2011 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Quarter Finals.

The second leg will be played at White Hart Lane on Wednesday 13th April 2011.

The winners of the tie will meet the winners of Barcelona v Shakhtar Donetsk in the Semi-Final.

In 1961, Bill Nicholson instigated Tottenham Hotspur's tradition of playing in an all-white kit for their European matches by telling his players "You look like Real Madrid - now go out there and play like them!"

Spurs and Real Madrid have already met once before in the fourth round (Quarter Finals) of the UEFA Cup in season 1984-85.

Tottenham lost 0-1 at home, which was their first defeat at the Lane in European football since 1961.

Real Madrid could be there for the taking. Most "huge" clubs won't double up on wingers. I firmly believe our widemen could get alot of joy with Ramos and Marcello/Arbeloa marking them. There will be no Phil Nevilles coming accross to kick Bale. Khedira and co won't help out, and even if they do, that will leave areas centrally to expose, areas VdV and Modric are capable of exploiting.

I think it's unfair to give Huddlestone his first minutes in competetive football in months away to a wounded Real Madrid.

Ramos has been conservative to a degree under Mourinho, Marcelo is the one that is allowed forward at will. Its Lennon's turn to roast the full back.

ther is only on eplace to play modric after satuedays game and that is CM alongside sandro if wilson is not fit.

lennon and bale wide if both fit. If bale is out it will have to be pienaar if lennon n ot fit jenas to start.

up front VDv and crouch will be Harrys starting line up.

due to injuries whoever is fit will play. i think we are down to the last four fit defenders anyway. huddlestone at CB before the seaon is out.

The injuries in the past couple of months to VDV, Bale and Modric have thrown that a little askew (in my opinion largely because the manager has started putting square pegs in round holes instead of just making like for like changes with our hefty reserve squad) have meant that we've not gotten to see it,

Spot on

Pienaar is out. If Bale's not back then it will likely be Modric left, Hudd and Sandro centre.
