All they seem to be talking about on KUMB is 'clattering' Lennon and Bale to get them injured and take them out of the game. Bale should skin Jacobsen for fun.

Gomes

Hutton Gallas King Bale

Huddlestone Jenas

Lennon Van Der Varrt Modric

Crouch

Subs: Cudicini, Sandro, Krancjar, Keane, Kaboul/Corluka (depends who is fit), Pavyluchenko, Assou-Ekotto

Lots of width, mix of pace and guile, strong CB pairing and most importantly leaving them to figure out the conundrum of how to mark Modric and Van Der Varrt who will float while keeping Bale from overlapping

This for me too, although I would be tempted to play either Bassong or Kaboul instead of King.

Has a nice balance doesn't it? With Hutton over lapping.

A member of this forum (Cristophe I believe) who takes more interest in Rangers than most of us reckons that Hutton is at his best when he has a hardworking right midfielder as opposed to a touchline hugging winger in front of him. I don't know how factually correct this is, but it would make sense given that Hutton is blessed with pace and drive, but not all that much by way of discipline defensively. Further to that, he should probably have a shit load of confidence after his last performance, we really should use that to its maximum, and a combination of Jenas being on form and Lennon being so badly off form gives us this opportunity, especially when we'll still have genuine width from the other side with Bale, and more than enough central creativity with Hudd, Modric and VDV.

While I want to see Jenas, what I don't want to see is VDV or Modric shafted onto a wing to accomodate him, that lovely balance you just spoke of will go all out the window!

Was pretty good and effective against a tough "in ya face" Stoke early this season.

West Ham will be fired up for this and will come flying out of the blocks. If we retain the ball well in the first 20 - 25 minutes then this should take the pace out the game.

5-3-2 works sometimes too. Should we use that, Jonathan Wilson?

Pletikosa
Naughton Caulker Walker
Livermore Jenas Parrett Sandro Townsend
Kane Obika

Subs: me and a few mates

I think we should bring a few player back on-loan for this game. Doesn't really matter if we win does it? I'm sure the fans will be happy to see us thrashed by West Ham, because fan rivalry obviously means nothing these days.

Save our best players for next season.

I dunno, you and your mates haven't been late to practice. Rest sandro and caulker and start you and a mate.

Lennon has enjoyed playing against West Ham in the past, I fancy him to do well on Saturday if he plays. He's certainly not playing so poorly that I'd stick a centre back in his position anyway, and Jenas shouldn't be chucked out there either.

Hutton in midfield? I sort of get what you are saying BBLG..BUT..

even if its a short term thing....i wouldn't like to see us go down that one.
we just got vdv, and eveyone is bigging us up to really challenge the big boys, hutton at RM is a real step backwards, even just for one game.

He done well when he came on, but lets not get carried away as to how good he is , or that he can start playing in our midfield.

Maybe I muddles my words a bit, but I didn't say (or at least I think I didn't) Hutton in midfield, I said Hutton is purportedly at his best with a hard working right midfielder in front of him (Jenas), instead of an attacking, line hugging winger (Lennon, Bentley). I'd never for a moment put Hutton anywhere but right back, I just think that JJ in front of him might be the trick to get the best out of his attacking qualities while making up for his defensive inconsistencies, and we have an opportunity to try it because Jenas is on good form, Lennon isn't (at all).

Don't worry, I haven't taken crazy pills.
