Admire your optimism, but we all know that we are balancing on the edge. We may win a trophy, succeed and go on to new strengths, or the entire squad can come crumbling down. So the message so far is that Liverpool and Chelsea are trying to give themselves the extra they need to make sure they qualify for the CL next year and we are doing squat...is that accurate? I hope not!!!

Our squad doesnt need reinforcements apparently. We also cant compete with City/United/Liverpool/Arsenal for players...we just dont have the financial resources... Based on the Liverpool thread.. Our competitors is likely Everton/Leicester/Southampton. What nonsense.

The risk IMO is real, but it has nothing to do with Barkley.

I think that if we don't buy the player that I want us to in January poch will threaten to commit suicide and every player on the books including academy players will go, it's what we always do we're just a shitty selling club

Certain I remember hearing that Pochettino actually wasn't THAT keen on Barkley. I've forgotten the context or the exact wording, might have been taken out of the proper context or a PR driven piece from the Levy side of things.

If we don't sign Barkley, it's a blessing in disguise if Pochettino was planning to use him as a central midfielder. I prefer him further forward and there are more capable Dembele replacements out there.

Dare I suggest that one of the most sensible, if not spectacular, things we could do in January is look to purchase one, if not two, English goalkeepers. It is plain crazy that we use up 2 of our non-HG slots on Vorm and Gazzaniga. This in turn has a very significant impact on our purchases in other positions as we are forced to look for HG players and pay over the odds as a result for players like Zaha. I think the HG factor also explains the obsession with Barkley. How about creating more room in the squad for non HGs by not using them for the one position where our back ups barely play.
