Reading the quotes it looks like H is playing games with Daniel re a new contract.....

This occurred to me also. We see enough players refusing to rule out a move in order to get a better deal, why not H?

Reading the quotes it sounds like Redknapp is bloody loving all this. Avoids prison and then has every member of the press touting him as the next England manager.

He's not gonna turn down the England job if it's offered, which it seems certain it will be. That seems clear from the interviews he's given. Best we can hope for is it doesn't have a negative effect on the team between now and May and we can still finish 3rd. Then Levy has the best chance of getting in a top class manager who can turn us into title challenges and convince all our big name players Spurs is the place to be.

Worst case scenario the England thing becomes a massive distraction, we self destruct, finish 5th and end up with Moyes. Can't see Modric wanting to play for Moyes and i'd give Bale a year at most.

If this is true then give him what he wants Daniel. He's the best manager we've had since Bill Nick and deserves a contract that reflects that. More chance of the like a Modric and Bale hanging around longer as well.

Good luck to him. He deserves a shot at England if that's what he wants. He deserves a pay rise here if that's what he wants. He deserves all the plaudits from everyone and deserves to feel loved right now. He's had that shit hanging over him for 5 years and at his age, that must've been pretty awful, so fair play.

We'll be ok. Either he'll stay and make us regular challengers or he'll leave and we'll get Mourinho or Hiddink or Megson.

I take u mean at the end of the season?! No way he would walk out on us now, in the position we are in.

What can he do for England between now and May, taking into account that pearce will b in charge for Holland.

Nothing at all but it's not us that need convincing of that, it's the media

a lot of assumptions being made by a lot of people. firstly, anyone who watched the fa press conference would see that they pretty much all TO A MAN want to ditch the short-termism of populist managers - 'Club England' is the plan now, they made that abundantly clear over and over again. germany was cited as the template - a professional infrastructure geared to promote from within should the need arise.

harry is the very antithesis of that. from everything the fa said, there was no indication whatsoever that harry was in their long-term thinking.

now as far as a temporary stint in the euros this summer..that is another matter entirely.the fa could well be up for that. but harry wont. he will want it on a perm job basis, cos the previously part-time nature of the job is what hes after. full-time salary, part-time hours. harrys had heart-surgery - he doesnt want club football for too much longer - and frankly noone could blame him for that.

unfortunately for harry, international football is changing very very quickly and i think hes missed his chance. the fa wanted wenger before they went for capello: harry will not be england manager beyond the euros, if he even agrees to that - and why would he: the business end of the job, for a pitiful bit of money. sure theres a chance of glory..but it wont be a vintage england side available this summer and he knows it.

he could still do a job at spurs - we're still not a truly modern club like arsenal or united are now. he will be here next season :D

Watching Sunday Supplement and it is another Harry love in.

They really all expect Harry to be in charge for the Euro's without question and a few of them expect Harry and all Tottenham's coaching staff to move sooner rather than later with him.

They have no respect for Tottenham at all and do not know Daniel Levy at all.

The media have decided who they want as manager of England, why don't they pick the team also, I wonder how pleased they will be when Harry names the Euro2012 squad and Joe Cole, Frank Lampard and Peter Crouch are all in it.

Levy needs to offer Harry a bumper new contract ASAP, one that the FA cannot match and someone needs to sit down with Harry and explain to him that Tottenham have more money than England, have better players than England, play better football than England, have better fans than England, have more chance of winning something in the next 4 years than England and he'll get more wages for less hassle to boot.

And he won't be able to buy any large Africans. That alone should put him off.

Probably said before in these many pages, but I can't believe it's as much of a certainty as the media believe. Sure it's a big job, and in that way can be seen as the pinnacle of a career. It also pays pretty well.

But in football terms, where is job satisfaction through success more likely? England haven't failed recently simply because of bad management, but because when it comes down to it they're not as good as some of the opposition. And in two years I can't see that changing. Where are the world class players who will give us a chance of the World Cup 2014? There's a few youngsters, but enough? And would Harry still be in charge in 2018?

With Spurs he has a real chance of a League title in the next year or two. It may not happen, but we're closer to that than England are to a tournament victory. If it's success Harry wants, he should stay at Spurs.

Whatever harry decides to do at the end of the season I will support him.
I will be gutted if he leaves but then again he may just re-ignite my Passion for supporting the national side which I haven't felt for about ten years and I do miss it. It's a lose/win situation for English spurs fans.

As much as we try to put down the England job at the end of the day it is the top job in English football for someone of harry's generation and I imagine harry has been dreaming of it ever since he got in to football management. He could become a national hero. How do you compete with that?

Neil Custis just said

not official on Harry yet but they will approach him Custis said

He's clever this bloke, no one else saw that coming? Is it an exclusive?

Custis said he would take over part time within an hor of Capello resigning. He has no more information than the cleaner in the bell and hare.

I think the FA will offer the England job to 'Arry Redknapp (I must be ITK - so, nobody can bash me ).

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that Harry will take England to the Euro's, get his fix and then come back to Spurs. England will then get a young manager in and build for the future.

A few have been saying why hasn't Levy offered Redknapp a new deal. Levy is no mug. I'm sure Levy has tried and Redknapp refuses to commit long term

Then again IF Levy does have a 15m clause in Redknapp contract why would you try and extend it

Levy wouldn't have offered a new deal with the court case still ongoing, Capello walking hopefully will have focused him

Harry likes playing games with Daniel in the press and I will tell you why.
He would love the England job but would prefer a new improved deal at Spurs!!
Currently he has 15 months left on his deal and he wants an extension or a better contract.
Problem in all of this is that Daniel won't extend his contract as he believes Harry has 15 months left.....!!!
So Harry uses the press to try and force Daniels hand. Maybe one time Daniel will sometime cave in but then never does!! He does have to be careful though with this one as H will walk on principle.
