NZ decent recovery, they got something they can protect. PAK quite capable of bottling it themselves

This current NZ v Pakistan game is being played at edgebaston and the spinners are absolutely ripping it...

ENG v IND on Sunday is being played at Edgebastion- I'm officially worried, India spinners are world class.

@mpickard2087 is correct in his description of how we struggle to knock the ball around during these 50 over games. It’s nobodies fault but our own, we’ve been playing pointless cricket on flat pitches that we’ve created for the last couple of years, believing that we don’t even have to plan how to win a game other than just go out and **** it from ball one.

Now that the ICC control the pitches (obviously to India’s advantage), we’re seeing a totally different game as the ball is not coming on in the second innings, but we’re stupidly trying to play the same way. Bayliss has been a charlatan from day one and this is another blot on his copy book, I’d prefer him to fuck off before the Ashes and have someone in who has played the game at the highest level and knows it like the back of their hand.

No team has been criticised as much as the 2015 World Cup team and no team has been praised more than the current one. It's a bit ironic that the 2015 team and mentality would have done better on these pitches.

I think these players can only play one way. None of Roy, Bairstow, Stokes, Morgan, Moeen in my opinion can really manoeuvre the ball around the field at will, Buttler seems to have got rid of a lot of the scoops and ramps and unorthodox stuff, you're left with Root but even he isn't always infallible and can get cut off. Surely we'd have seen lessons learnt after the Pakistan game and adapted if we could.

Though Bayliss' tenure, especially with the test team, has been one where we just keep repeating mistakes and stumble forward without seemingly learning or caring, so who knows. Maybe it is pig-headedness.

Hopefully with the weather over the next week it dries out and flattens some of the pitches (might spin more, but might not be so stodgy and the ball will come onto the bat better), and we get a game where you can smash it around the park at will, think that's the only way we can be saved.

Such a shame he had to retire from England as early as he did, one of the best openers I’ve had the pleasure of watching.

Yeah, would definitely get in my all time team as opener. Went to an ODI one time where the oppo (was either the Saffers or Aussies, cant remember) had about 5 men trying to stop him scoring in the area between about backward point - square cover. Guy just kept finding the gap to the boundary. Great to watch such skill on show right in front of me. Class act.
