Tottenham are racing against time to sign Ivory Coast sensation Souleymane Coulibaly before the transfer window shuts at the end of August.
Spurs supremo Daniel Levy has set up a £2million move for the teenage superstar, who is ready to leave Italian side Siena to come to White Hart Lane.
However, Coulibaly must wait until his father is granted an Italian passport - a process that could take several weeks.
The 16-year-old will not be granted a work permit at his age, so has to arrive in Britain under the family umbrella.

Fulham manager Martin Jol talking to Setanta on the club's link to Robbie Keane: "Robbie's a great player, but we've got great strikers here. I'm a big fan of Robbie."

Sounds like summink Harry would say just before signing the player...

Again, someone at the tabloids failing to grasp that work permits have actually now been abolished. :bang:

There's now a whole new different visa scheme which actually makes things much easier for football clubs.

I was looking at pictures of the players in SA and didn't see Keane, and thought maybe he didn't travel? But then I saw a picture of him signing autographs. Fussed.

I'm still not convinced that we'll be signing any striker soon, not with Keane, Defoe, Crouch and Pavlyuchenko at the club.

I dont think it will make much difference. We'll be able to shift one or two of them, and I dont think the timing entirely depends on doing that before making a striker signing like Vucinic, far too many variables to control that could see us miss out...regarding a striker of that calibre.

I did think this but part of me just thinks that if it wasn't an issue we may have had a striker by now. I don't mean it's as easy as that but to at least be strongly linked with one. I'm not trying to act like I know what's going on behind the scenes 'cos I have no idea but it just doesn't feel like anything is close to happening.

Saying that, I do agree that getting a striker in now you wouldn't think would effect our ability to sell later on but, I just wish we would have pushed a few more players out by now.

Looks like Defoe and Keane are pretty close to the exit door now though.

How so? Are they as close to leaving as we are apparently to signing Vucunic? If so I take it they're not that close then

I do apologise for my pessimism but, I would bet a lot of expensive things that we still won't have signed anyone by this time next week. Not anyone 'big' anyway.

I would of thought the same up until today, certainly seems like we are in negotiations for Vucinic which must mean we are very interested.

I wouldn't be surprised if we sign him in the next two weeks, thats my hunch.

Hopefully next week

Things are looking up, and the grumpy old sod's have got nothing to moan about.

They will be back tho.

What makes you say that?

Only the strong and persistent rumours of multiple (realistic) clubs being interested in them (Sunderland/Newcastle and Fulham/Bolton/Blackburn etc). That's in quite big contrast to Pav and Crouch who we seem less keen to shift right now.

I hope so!

I truly believe we will get someone who fits what we want at least fairly well in to the club but just not sure when. My guess for things to pick up would be from the end of July/early August but hey I could be completely wrong, I hope so.

The all important thing is that we just eventually do what's required though, it's frustrating that it seems to be taking long but I have faith that we will get what we need.

I would'ev thought us signing another striker would be the final push out of the door for Keane et al - clubs are more likely to come in as they will assume we'll accept lower fees if we've got players we actively need to get rid of now their place has been taken.
