I honestly think we need to be realistic.

A young - 20m, getting over 100k a week
Rossi - 25m - 30m, possible we can get the transfer fee but we cant afford wages
Eto / Drogba/Adebayor/ - we cannot afford wages

As a club we cannot afford to pay the wages of these players, even the talk of modric easily getting 3 times more if he left.

We cannot compete with these sort of things. we will def get players in but at what cost!! sometimes we get delusion in thinking we can get top top players but the fact of it is we cannot afford to pay their wages. Come Aug 31 we get disappointed we didn’t sign player X or Y.

Get with the programme guys/ladies? we might just be punching above our weight here, possible we are just waiting to fight for the scraps.

Maybe is time for the manager to show his worth, get these players on form/confidence or anything that can get these players to perform. Last year we had the champions league but still didn’t attract this players. now without it will be more difficult especially with the wages these top players are demanding.

Imagine A young, 20m and over 100k a week.

Apparently, Porto have a history of using heavy handed tactics in order to get players to sign contract extensions, and to make them stay. And yes, you read that right, there are rumours that the President has dispatched henchmen to physically intimidate staff into singing/staying. I've heard they have possible mafia connections as well.

Those Mafia karaoke nights are notorious aren't they? You can't be expected to do an acceptable "Are You Lonesome Tonight" under that sort of pressure!

Roger Morgan on SO Re: Arturo Vidal

A Chilean at Bayer Leverkusen. We've enquired, he'll be about £15m and they are desperate not to sell him to Bayern Munich. Can't say how serious our interest is because I don't know. We'll see.

A cursory glance through POTL and Archie's records shows these two don't always bare fruit, but they rarely seem to talk bollocks. Especially Archibald. If he says we are talking to ManC about Adebayor, then I reckon we probably are. Doesn't mean it will happen.

Roger Morgan on SO Re: Arturo Vidal

He's supposed to be quite good isn't he? A defensive midfielder I think. Something like:

Vidal - Sandro
VDV - Modric - Bale
Vucinic

This could work quite well as there's a strong defensive base with a front 4 that has very clever players as well as the raw pace from Bale.

Vidal - a central midfielder. Attack minded.

Potential replacement for the wantaway-who-must-not-be-named?

he scored ten goals last season - NOT a DM...

My knowledge of Vidal is just from his wiki page, which says he's a DM.

EDIT: just read the actual description and it does say he's been used offensively over the 2010/11 season.

If we are interested in Vidal and we managed to get him, massive if mind, it would surley mean Modric is gone sooner rather than later, perhaps January - if not this summer

Can anyone give me the low down on this kid. Some seem to rate him very highly, and I've seen very little of him.

seen nowhere near enough of him to really give a definite opinion, he looked good the few times I've seen him play - verging on very good actually.

But yeah some on here have definitely seen him play enough to have a sound judgement on him.

He usually plays the anchorman role. Heynckes gave him licence to roam for much of last season, hence why he was the top scoring midfielder in the Bundesliga. Vidal is the player that we all hoped Jenas would become.
Would compliment Sandro and Modric very well in a midfield three.

It's not like we haven't been close to doing a deal for him before (last January), which I assumed would have been a loan deal.

But how would he fare in a central two?

Why, whenever a decent footballer is mentioned, do people keep going on about orgasms and jizz and erections and, most offensive of all, "sex wee"?

I can tell you all now: during the sex act THE LAST thing I am thinking about is football.

Transfers rumours as an aphrodisiac - who knew?

His heart is completely set on Madrid unfortunately. He said he'd wait until
deadline day for them and we need to act much quicker than that.
