Does anyone know how many times has adebayer scored more than 20goals in a season as I can only remember him having one good year. I am still hopeful that levy has a trick up his sleeve maybe falcao and hulk. Dreams.

Going to be fun fighting with the likes of Everton and Bolton for that 8th/9th place

woah. even if we don't sign anyone else we won't finish lower than 6th. Everton and Bolton haven't strengthened and Villa have lost their 2 best players.

but if we continue to play 4-4-1-1 or switch to another formation with 1 striker and 1 behind like a 4-2-3-1 we'd have 4 out and out strikers for 1 spot, which is why 3 strikers and VDV is what we should be going for.

Harry has put the ball in Defoe's court. Told him that he wasnt good enough last season and didnt deserve to start. Like another itk said Harry is giving players a clean slate from pre season... All of the top four have 4 good strikers except Arsenal...and Harry wants to keep Pav,Defoe and Crouch and add 1 more striker... People are silly if they beleive Harry is going to sell at least two of those and re shape our forward line..

One of Vucinic/Adebayor/Rossi...not that great, especially if an injury happens. Two of those replacing Crouch/Keane/Defoe would be quite nice though, and you'd expect Vucinic + Adebayor would only be around 30M, which could be easily recouped by selling our Crouch/Pav + Defoe and some others of our deadwood, even at cut rates. Why wouldn't you get both, if they're available??

so you seem to think we will only sign one striker ?

Leandro not on the radar any more ?

Yeah just one striker

Leandro was only ever going to happen in January and not this summer as Internacional were not gonna sell him in this window unless they got a ridiculous bid

Oh dear. That doesn't sound good does it. I'd have expected Defoe or Crouch to go, along with Keane. Sign one top quality striker...and another young striker that could liven things up a bit.

Leandro sounded like he'd fit the bill for the young striker...the two kids we've got won't get a chance in the Premiership next season I assume.

It's what we basically had the whole of last season though. If Harry intends to continue playing this current system we can't have 4 strikers. VDV may not be a striker but he is a no10 like Keane.

Last year we went from Keane, Defoe, Crouch, Pav to VDV, Defoe, Crouch, Pav. VDV is a guranteed starter which would leave 4 players playing for 1 position unless Harry goes back to 4-4-2.

We can't have:
VDV
Defoe/Crouch/Pav/New Striker

You worry to much

One of Adebayor and Vucinic will be fine, Might bring the best out in the others.

I do agree to an extent. It'll be good for whoever's left knowing the wont just be able to walk in to the team and score 1 in 7.

Yep. Adebayor/Vucinic out for 3 months, back to rotating between Pav/Defoe/Crouch...

We should never have to be in the same situation as were last season striker wise, I'd go ape shit.

Maybe Kane is going to fly onto the scene ala beckham. His first goal will be against arsenal, overhead kick on the 91st minute to make it 2-1 to us.

One thing giving some players a clean slate but if that applies to all our forwards is that not just ignoring the total ineptness of all them last season? Smacks to me of just burying the head in the sand...and basically just hoping they do the business this season. Still cant understand how we expect to keep all of them happy if we sign a Vucinic or Adebayor anyway.

Very worrying if true.
