Nothing will replace Eriksen, not for a few seasons while whoever it is is learning and progressing. His absence will leave a huge hole in the squad and we’ll have to change our style

The last bit (change our style) is the key. He cannot be replaced like for like so we have to change as a team.

Losing Eriksen will be devastaring. Frankly Isco is a downgrade on Eriksen...but then a different sort of player. I wouldn't say no for Isco. Isco & Brooks or Gibbs White would do for me.

No wonder we were after De Jong last summer. Succession planning.

Pity it failed. Hopefully they have scouted an alternative who is as good.

They play different styles, Isco doesn't drop in deep to get play ticking like Eriksen does.
Well he doesn't for Madrid because they have others already there. I don't know if that means he couldn't. He can certainly pass the ball and see's things early enough, so I don't see why he couldn't. That said I don't see Isco happening personally, and more so not in this window. I also don't see Eriksen leaving this window either with what's happening with Madrid atm.

All this Eriksen stuff probably explains the serious interest in Grealish last window.
In terms of player out/player in combos, I think that would be the most depressing switch in personnel since Dimitar Berbatov/Fraiser Campbell. Grealish is a totally meh player IMO and not fit to lace Harry Winks' boots, let alone Christian Eriksen's. God help us indeed if that was the thinking last summer.

I'm sorry if I'm being simple but when Hercules says "Isco’s family etc keep in touch with us via obvious means" it isn't obvious to me, can anyone enlighten me please?
For the record I would be happy with Isco but it would no doubt be a hard sell, mind you if we are losing Eriksen next summer he'll be mad determined to win us something before he goes.

Isco and any Real player would see us as a step down.

The squads mentally it formed I think by having no players who feel they are doing us a favour.

Would rather have a striving player as Eriksen was when we signed him. Hope to god he doesn’t go though.

We are now really close to being very successful on the pitch after a bloody long journey, unfortunately this means all our players and manager are getting noticed more than ever. Everyone wants a piece of us.
Sonny, Dele, Harry, Christian would get into any team in the world so we just have to buckle up and enjoy the journey and the success when it comes or you will kill yourself with worry about what might happen.
The new stadium and all the other facilities are top quality so we are hoping that will keep the players happy and attract others.
Football is dynamic as MP says.

Cheers jj. Really hope we can name a stadium sponsor soon hopefully, it would gives us a bit more leeway in the transfer market.

Do we need an Isco type player?

Eriksen, Dele, Son, Lamela, Lucas - we are more than stocked in that attacking midfield area.

I think centre midfielder should be the priority and perhaps a backup striker.

Rabiot or Ndombele would be perfect

Yes he keeps saying football is dynamic. But it’s difficult not the think about the potential for missed opportunities and the position we could be in, especially when Liverpool’s points total is the result of significant transfer activity. There is also a feeling amongst us that our best players need to feel they can achieve their ambitions at this club, and maybe also with the manager. The solution to this is almost always increased investment in the playing staff

I know some will say there are other ways to improve the squad, but we’ve benefitted greatly from past investments and will need to refresh our midfield soon.

This thread and ITK have built me up too many times, for crushing disappointment come the end. So I will ignore from now on, the mountains of salt I apply will never extinguish the hope.

So I'm just going to revel in the best team and manager we've had in my lifetime.

I suggest that others set the bar at 0 and be happy if anything above 0 happens

I think he means through his representatives (agents etc). Agents have ongoing relationships and dialogue with clubs.

Or the bat-phone. Probably the bat-phone

Honestly Isco can bugger off, he's like a girl that keeps you hanging, in the hope of someone better coming along, we're better than that, time to move on

We were after dele from the age of 13 (ramsey even made an offer). That worked out alright. But i agree with your sentiment.
