It's not the major panic you make out - we have lots of midfielders ... Dier (in his new role), Mason, Bentaleb, Dembele, Alli, Velikovic, Carroll, Winks ... We only need to play two in there. I personally accept we cannot compete for the top 4 until we have built the new stadium, so we're playing for top 6.

are not defensive players.

Happy to stay confident right up until the final minutes due to JJ's comments this morning. He must be super confident on Berahino as he's opened himself up to a load of abuse on Tw*tter if it doesn't happen. Would still like a new CM but as long as we get the striker in I think we'll manage.

Grey Fox ITK seems to suggest it's unlikely Ade will leave, I think we all know he'd be happy to see out his deal sitting on his arse. There's no way he'll leave to be out of pocket. The lack of named strikers via ITK other than Berahino worries me, if Tim doesn't take Ade to Villa we should hijack their Berbatov deal, at this stage I'd take him until the end of the season!

I'm going to assume we're drawing a blank today. My heart can't take it.

I'm also spending the day convincing myself that Dier is better than Witsel, and Chadli is a suitable back up to Harry Kane.

Yes... that will make the world a better place.

TalkSport is doing its Spurs bit. Talking to Chris Miller, Spurs blogger. He's 'relatively hopeful' of a deal today. TS said there was talk of Lamella joining SCBC on loan??? I missed that one. Other than that, no new information whatsoever. Thanks, Chris!

It's just not the same with the SSN reporters inside either the stadiums or the training grounds. What are those poor guys in Stoke going to do without their 5 minutes today?

If Ade's not gone we need to start getting him to do some work, either sort out his attitude and get him playing, or help out our social media team with their mediocre Instagram posts!

You can thank the Everton fans and their giant blue dildo for that.

This is the strongest Premier League in history. Massive spending by lower to middle tier clubs have made every game more difficult than last season. We have an absolutely brutal stretch of matches coming up starting in late September, and we are nowhere near adequately prepared to cope with injuries or rotation. Let's also not forget we have 3 points out of 12 to start the season.

Clinton N'jie is not a lone striker. He has less than a full year of top flight footballing experience. He's settling in a new country. He has virtually no experience playing as a lone striker, as Lyon played with two strikers ahead of Fekir, and whenever N'jie played, Lacazette was almost always on the field with him. Given that Chadli and Son (who is absolutely not a lone striker and under no circumstances should be played there) are almost certain to start league matches, we'll be pinning our hopes of beating Arsenal, Monaco, and Anderlecht on N'jie, as there are no other players available. That's not fair to him and it's not fair to Pochettino. It's imperative we bring in a striker and a central midfielder. The manager has wanted one of each all summer. He's been explicit in his belief that we need another striker. After the new television deal kicks in next season, our turnover will be essentially on par with Juventus, so financial constraints are not a legitimate excuse any longer. The television deal will have jumped nearly 85 million pounds from 2012-2013 to 2016-2017.

Dembele and Alli are pretty balanced central midfielders, and Mason certainly gives it more of a shake than others. The rest of the bolded are current and former academy kids, where they played counter attacking football and should be given time to learn the system.

Wonder whether Lameka was held back to give us potential leverage with SCBC on VW or Everton on JM?
