Another interesting point I have found from talking to gooners, this includes the same friend I mentioned earlier, a guy I went to uni with and my brother in law (who is arsenal mad)

And all three of them have been raving about Defoe for some time, they all want him and are convinced he would score 30 plus if he played for them (due to the abundance of chances they create)

Its just funny how fans looking in from the outside can have a completely different take on a player to that which those who see people week in week out have.

And as mentioned earlier maybe (just maybe) we are influenced by seeing Adeboyor constantly performing well against us and this may not be as true a reflection of his general form (with MOTD highlights thrown in) as we hold true.

I'm not saying this is the case, more that it made me stop and think and question my own opinion because before I was dead cet signing Ade was a no brainer and the perfect solution to our problems....now, I'm just questioning that somewhat (not that I am taking this Arsenal fans opinion as gospel....but I will state he is not the bitter type so I trust his assessment to be based on what he saw rather than being a reaction to his leaviing and the whole 80 yard dash celebration thing)

I guess all fans are guilty of this and its certainly a reasonable point to draw people's attention to.

I suspect Adebayor would be a better signing for us than Defoe would be for them but they could have similar impacts in a sense.

Defoe could easily get a hell of a lot of chances but then again their play could suffer going through him. They need someone who will pull the trigger which Defoe will do but you could quite easily see the Goons getting pissed off with him missing the opportunity to pass, when its on, to keep the move alive.

Could be a case of one extreme to the other regarding Defoe in an Arsenal shirt - of course I could be completely wrong.

Any offer for Huddlestone over 10m should be gobbled up faster than Gran Canarian lady boy can say sucky sucky. Slow mover and slow brain in fast league, this is a cash cow (double entendre) ripe for slaughter.

lol....BC what did Huddlestone do to you, must be pretty serious

Wow. I can't believe that there has been ITK on Aguero and it has had barely a mention. One of the best players in the world.

They are different types of player in the same way that there are rarely two players the same, but in terms of what they offer a team they are not that different. Suarez has played as the main striker too - in fact even our manager commented on how well he played it, but he has at other times with Ajax and Uruguay. Rossi has also played in the position that Suarez has (outside forward in a type of 433). Suarez also has a prolific goal scoring record.

As I said, there are differences, Rossi has a smidgen more finesse and Suarez a bit more tenacity, but in our side, with the players we have, they'd be occupying similar areas and playing similar tactically.

We supposedly rejected Suarez because Redknapp wanted a hold up player that VDV could play off - and that could lead the line in the style that we play. Rossi is no more this than Suarez. If we were Barca or Arsenal maybe, but we don't play tippy tappy through teams, we play wide and wack balls in form Lennon and Bale, that's when Ekotto and Dawson aren't hoofing the fucking thing.

Both Rossi and Suarez can play up front no problem, but for us, with Redknapp's coaching and tactics, they'd both be wasted.

Redknapp does actually see Rossi as able to play as a lone forward (though not Suarez):

"He asked me if I wanted Suarez the other week and I felt he was a top player, but he plays as a second striker and I've got (Rafael) van der Vaart. We needed a Forlan or a Carroll or a Rossi."

Can you imagine Defoe trying to stay onside whilst Arsenal fuck around playing tippy tappy near the box. He'd end up with nervous twitch.

Dan, I think the clue to Redknapp's intelligent assessment was using Forlan, CARROLL and Rossi in the same sentence.

Why didn't you also quote Redknapp when he said a couple of weeks ago when referring to the assessment of Suarez "but he played there for Liverpool the other night and he was triffic" or word to that effect. I know what Redknapp gave as the reason for not buying Suarez, that's meaningless as most of us know it's bollocks. Suarez can and has played as a main striker.

I think the point is Dan, that Redknapp will say the first thing that comes into his head or covers his arse.

He's probably told Levy that Rossi is a 20yo, 6ft 2in African Rooney.

Nobody will say. I went through all of Brett's last posts and there was nothing bad in them.

I agree with BC on this, not that much difference in Suarez and Rossi. The former being a more tenacious type and the latter having a bit more finesse. Both have pace and have that instinct which could see them playing on the shoulder, providing the ball is kept on the deck.

So if the rationale was to reject Suarez because he wasn't what we needed, then the acknowledgement that Rossi is what we need seems a little strange.

They're not worlds apart. I watched the Fulham/Liverpool game and Suarez played right up top that night and did so very well.

I wonder if some people even watch us play.. thudd is a cultured passer of the ball. He can pick a pass and play it and He has a good shot on him. He was injured midway through last season and harry played him to early meaning that He didn't do himself justice (even though He got us back in the game against the goons).

He lost some weight last season and started to do a lot of unselfish work. Also in the 2009/10 season his partnership with luka during a tough run of games resulting in us getting the champions league place (arse at home, chelscum at home, bolton at home etc).

I'm sure some people would have wanted hoddle to be sold too.

Glenda was quite injury prone and wasn't the quickest, He couldn't tackle (although He could keep goal) and He wasn't the best at tracking back. But we all remember what He:wink: could do.
