What we know is that Damiao currently is valued over 20m so there is no chance of us signing him.

Luuk De Jong. If a story came out about us chasing him for 15m then I would maybe buy in and take an interest.

Which bit do you disagree with High Voltage?

He was trying to do you a favour mate. You went on the defensive and handed out neg reps, but completely got the wrong end of the stick. A&C continually reminds us to read the rules... It was a friendly gesture!

I take the point, but the initial post was questioning A&C leniancy, not a hint to me about not doing it.

I have read the rules, now and I promise not break them again:banghead:

They are quotes though.

they are. but probably recycled from the last time we tried to do the deals.

they don't read like new to me, and we know xmas is slow news time...

...and it's m***** f****** crap s*** clubcall. I was suckered by them about 20 years ago on the phone, at £onesomething per min.

Back when ceefax was the most up to date info! :grumpy:

The second and most major was over the England job vacancy. Levy asked Redknapp if he was interested, and Redknapp denied being interested and said Spurs was his main priority and wanted to see them into the CL.

The press then grabbed the story that Redknapp was in line for the England job, and Redknapp didn't flat out deny wanting the job, and Levy wasn't happy. Levy asked why and apparently 'Arry said he didn't want to disrespect the FA (especially after their help during his tax scandal) or the nations supporters as a whole. Once rumors circulated that 'Arry was leaving Spurs in the press, he lost control of the dressing room and the results started to slide. Redknapp said it wouldn't have mattered if he'd have made the champions league, he was still going to be sacked because of the heated argument and damaged relationship with Levy.

That sounds absolutely spot-on to me.

After being sacked, Redknapp said: "When people at the top don't like you, what can you do about it? I have to respect it. I can't do anything about that."

You could have kept your mouth shut 'arry, had some integrity and honour and showed our club some fucking respect instead of blatantly/shamelessly whoring yourself out for the England managers job for masochists; losing the trust and belief of the players, leading to us blowing a 10 point lead over the scum!

I've never seen someone shirk responsibility as much as this guy. Pathetic.

yeah but it was fun overall with Arry tho. highest PL finish, some gosh darn sexy football at times - really, really swashbuckling stuff at times.

not everything works out to be long term, and we're not doing so bad under the new man. long may he reign.

Not denying that and appreciate what he did for us and really enjoyed a lot of the footy we played, but it's so very frustrating to know that all he had to do was keep things close to his chest and even if he did want to go it wouldn't have affected the lads and their form...the way we finished behind the scum with the lead we had was just sickening.

The way he handled all of that was totally selfish and self-motivated without regard for anyone else. No wonder he loves Defoe so much....

Couldn't agree more. Still have No idea how we ended up below woolwich but equally I can't remember the last time we started January as genuine title contenders. With flair !

it's clubcall.

It's f****** clubcall.

they're lower down the "credible source" list than my last two mince pies.
Blimey, they're still around?

I used to see them on Teletext. "Spurs to buy European star?" and then have to sit on a 0898 number for 20 minutes to find out who. Honestly seemed like we bought a player every day of the week.

Eeee, them were the days.

eto'o, morientes... my mum used to wake me up at 6.30am every morning claiming ceefax said we were going to buy (fat) Ronaldo.

I fell for it everyday, because I wanted it to be true more than anything. what a player he was. :notworthy:

she's wet spam.

This^^^ had some amazing times watching us under Harry. He's a bit of a **** but at times it was the best Spurs team I've seen play.

I disagree that de Jong is a "good catch" for the price mentioned. He hasn't been performing that well for Borussia Mönchengladbach in terms of goals (2 goals in 7 league games and 4 goals in all 14 games in total). I've been following BM quite often this season because they've bought Alexander Ring from HJK who represents my country (Finland) and de Jong has been a shadow of himself from last season when he still played for Twente. Maybe it's just that he needs time to settle in the demands of Bundesliga but no way that he's worth 15m, maybe half of that. Dutch Eredivisie is ranked as 8th among the greatest football leagues in Europe (source: http://comparetheleagues.com/) so I think that he hasn't proved himself yet to be worth the 15m you've mentioned.

..Maybe someone still remembers Alfonso Alves who Middlesbrough bought for a club record fee and he ended up to be quite average but still scored 48 goals for Heerenveen in as many games.

please no more mention of dembaba, there's no itk on him (or even prominent media links) and it's just tedious hearing about him. we're not going to sign him and rightly so. just clogging up the thread with nonsense.

Ok well i haven't been following the bundesliga this season so fair play. He just looks like he has all the technical and physical attributes to be an absolute star for us. I guess if he's not doing it now then it might be worth watching for a bit but if he starts scoring again then his value just soares.

The Alves comparison doesn't really work though because Suarez came straight here from Holland and Ajax very rarely develop bad players.
