Just to put all of this doom in perspective the only team who have really done any serious business this season is Man City so we're not alone in waiting for the chequebook to be opened.

There is an argument that despite getting into the top four promised land, we're still Spurs, and probably spent so long haggling over Suarez that Ajax decided to play him anyway...if anything I think the fact he's playing tonight means he's more likely to sign for us

If we are in fact after Parker, it doesn't mean we're not after top class players aswell. I don't know why people overreact to a potential signing. He'll improve the squad. It's not like we have a limit of how many players we can sign. What if we sign Parker, Oezil and Forlan? Would we still be mad then?
Also, look on the bright side. At least we have put a bid in for someone. Which means we don't have to wait for Man City and Villa to act before we sign anyone. Who knows, maybe we put the bid in because if City know we're waiting for them to sign Milner, they'll drag their heels.
We really don't know how serious we are about Parker. He would improve the squad if we do get him. It wont change our main targets though.

Who said he would be signed for the first 11? He's an upgrade on the squad. That's like saying who would we drop from the first 11 when we signed Kaboul. Are we going to drop Gomes for Pletikosa?

But would you want to splash out the kind of money the Spammers are gonna demand for him on a squad player. He'd improve the squad no doubt but then so would Ozil and Turan, if the spammers want £20 million for him when we can get Ozil for £12 million, well says it all really. Turan and Ozil over Parker anyday, we don't need a player that the position for is already well taken with Palacios/Huddlestone and now Sandro.
If we end up with Ozil and Turan I can surely see 4-2-3-1 formation, they'd suit it.

I keep thinking this. Is our link to Turan purely because Dan Ashcroft wants him to sign? We were linked with him in May or something anmd since then nothing. Why the persistant talk about him?
