Schneiderlin is obviously a very decent player but the way some people are elevating his quality is ridiculous.

'He's essential to Poch's system'- er... we're doing OK so far without him.
'Poch really wants him'- and has repeatedly said he's impressed with the quality of the squad he has.

He's good but he's no Modric and let's not pretend that without the Poch link I doubt any of us would be banging the drum for him. It's all got a bit daft.

Do not agree he could be our Gerrard. Someone you build your team around.
I remember us being ready to build a team around Carrick.
And Modric.
And Bale.
The sad state of affairs is that a stellar player gets a hell of a shop window with us as our style of play means they can look even more special - and then in come Real.
The way to be is to define the playing style and then build the team around that, investing in players who can add to it. If it is true that MS is not coming off, and that wears signing a similar (but lesser known) player (BS) to take on the role, then I am happy with that. We have already seen in the first three matches (and preseason) that Poch has a method that he is instilling: one touch passing and building up play before quick breaks to score. We need to buy the players to achieve this - and I believe that we are.

Update from Trix on the Argie text message (not much, but here you go):

Asked for more, have heard nothing. Sorry I can't be any more specific.

He won't go for anything like 27m

I would say Arsenal if they get him will pay about 23m euros, about £18m

Just could not bear the thought of him in an Arsenal shirt, he is the missing link for them

It would be like having eye on a girl for months and being too shy to ask her out only for your worst enemy to sneak in there and nab her

How is 'asked for more, have heard nothing' relevant to anything?

Didnt think it warranted a whole new ITK RO post but thought for sake of the slow weekend ITK offerings i'd add it to previous offerings from Trix. Plus Branchie made the effort to whore it ;).

His quality is being completely underestimated as well by many because you think that it is only Poch that rates him this highly. He would improve every team other than Man City probably.

The fact that Poch rates him so highly and Morgan can play exactly to his system only adds to his value, without this he is already a fantastic footballer and hence there are CL teams in for him.

Again, if he played for a CL team in the prem or a top team elsewhere people would not be saying his price is drastically inflated.

Hmm, unknown Argie and Soldado linked with Juve.

Anyone having a Tevez for Soldado swap shop?

Carlos certainly fits the Pochettino mould .

I think "solid" means that an actual bid has been made - as opposed to an inquiry. It is not related to the size of the bid.

True but we can asume it's going to be higher than ours from them being CL outfits plus all the close season bluster and ITK over the price..hence 'north of 17m'

I'm pretty sure if he was actually going for that (£18million), we wouldn't have pulled out...

I said he was good!

Point is it's not like we're missing out on Ronaldo or as a direct comparision Modric.

They want stupid money & we aren't Man Utd: we're smarter than that.

As soon as it was clear we weren't signing MS and Fazio instead we should have gone straight in with a bigger bid. At least tried to meet them halfway.

Read his interview after yesterdays match. Doesn't sound like the mercenary you paint him to be.

When you have a plan you have to back it. Pooch has a plan and at the top table you have to pay top dollar. Levy back your man.

Fuck blaming Levy. No point being held to ransom.

Don't forget we had itk that Levy and Poch sat down, discussed who we wanted and the price we'd pay. And Levy put in bids ABOVE those agreed amounts. Levy has done more than enough and I'm pleased he hasn't been ransomed on this.

I certainly don't think Poch is gonna sulk over missing out on this one. He's a grown up, not a spolit brat like AVB! He'll be good enough to improve what we have and we may have turned up a gem in Stambouli. I have complete faith in Levy and Poch and missing out on MS is not the end of the world.

This,

I'm expecting a marquee signing with the money we saved on Moustachio and Schneiderlin.
