For some reason and I know it's my own fault, I gave Mersin the benefit and just read his summary of the TW. I know, I know but I was feeling weak. What an insightless **** he is, truly a waste of time reading it.

To be honest, I'm ok with not having an Eriksen/Alli back-up and not having a pacy wideman if he actually uses N'Koudou and Marcus Edwards regularly off the bench.

But he won't. He'll use Sissoko.

That's the problem.

Good window but as with every club it could have been even better. Even unlimited funds doesn't guarantee you transfers ask Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal even Man United who all failed to complete some deals. I hope and believe we have upgraded in defence and with the second striker. Work still to be done but that can wait until the next two transfer windows. Pochettino now has to bed in five new players which will take some doing.

Happy with our business in this window. Llorente is a shrewd signing that will bring experience, goals, and more options. Excited about Davinson Sanchez - looks like a major new talent that could potentially form part of a rock solid back three - and Aurier seems like a great replacement for Walker.

There will always be complaints about not improving other areas, but considering how great we were at scoring and defending last season I'd say that improving in those areas can only be a good thing.

There's also stability that comes with not making sweeping changes to the squad.

Thanks to the ITK for the insights into our intentions during the window, to the long suffering mods, to the posters on here that have made the threads so entertaining, and Hank.

In Poch we trust! You are moaning about what subs are going to be used which is a tad premature...

I'm really happy with the signings we made but I can't shake a sense of anti climax given all the positivity up until 9pm last night.

Would be interested to know what happened to the midfield options.

We are stronger than before so that is a big positive for me, especially with all the early rumours about losing players.
Slightly dissappointed we didnt sign a wide, pacy, skillfull wide forward. Really hope the club now prioritise this type of signing

To be honest on the stability/defensive side of our starting 11 this does look pretty damn solid.

Lloris

Aurier Sanchez Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose

Wanyama Dembele
We should be highly competitive in all matches with that really but my only worry which I really thought we would address this window is that little spark on the other end that can win you the matches against the other big teams in particular.

We've had more than one window to address this problem.

That's my problem.

I was thinking about the positive consensus from the ITKs about a signing that didn't appear to come off. I wonder how many of our resident ITKs get there info from the same source?

It occured to me when Hertsyid posted that he had texted his guy and hadn't heard back. Maybe his guy is Hercules?Maybe its JJ?!? Maybe Gards and Greyfox also have the same source and that's why everyone agreed. The club has certainly cut out the leaks so it makes sense there wouldn't be many different ones.

Maybe the ITKs don't know they are dealing with the same people because they don't know them by their internet persona. Chances are we all talk to people we know in real life on here without realising.

No real point to this, just trying to explain why so many ITKs backed the same horse that seemingly never got leaked to the press.

Just seen that Janssen rejected a late move to Brighton. Can't blame him. Spain window is open till tonight. Wonder if he will be loaned out to some Spanish club...

All in all I'm quite happy with this. We strengthened significantly at the back, allowing us to play our best formation in most games. Three at the back also negates the need for pace further up the pitch, and assuming that's our formation from now on, we have Son and Lamela to cover for Alli and Eriksen, and N'Koudou and Sissoko on top of that, not to mention Edwards. In addition to that, we adressed a major weakness in the squad by getting Llorente. He's also incredibly handsome.

I was excited by the Gomes link yesterday, because I believed, and still do, that Pochettino would get him back to Valencia level. That would, however, block the path for Winks, and the youth aspect is one of the main reasons why I enjoy the Poch era so much. The same goes for any attacking midfielder. We're all so eager to see Edwards play for the first team, but his path would be severely blocked if we had signed some big name. Add Barkley to the mix in January, and we're well stacked.

....... Hello Net spend my old friend..... We've got White Hart Lane to build again......

:playful:

Seriously though this could have been a lot worse. At least the team is still mostly intact.

With little pace and attacking width added to the squad I do hope we start playing 5 at the back again. 4-2-3-1 just hasn't worked this season.
COYS.

Hindsight, this 2017 summer window got to be one of the best Spurs window ever.

While we sold Walker, we have kept all of our key players, added 2 world class talents in CB & RB positions, added the much needed Kane back up.

Yeah, we didnt sign that pacy winger, but when did Poch played with one anyway. Atleast in a big Wembley pitch, Sanchez & Aurier gives us the pace at the back to cover the pitch. Once Rose gets back to full fitness, we will have a dynamic team.

Just remember it could have been worse. Think how shitty it must be to be an Arsenal fan today...;)

Best attack last season. Best defence last season. Both improved. I'm happy.

Gomes would have taken it from good to great window, and he's obviously the special player/ number 8/10 / unlikely player that itk we getting giddy about late on. I'm glad we tried, it's a step in the right direction.

As for pacey wing forward, once we didn't get Keita I'm a bit glad we didn't try for a plan B, because the currently wasn't anybody available to us (taking into account price, wages etc) who would have represented similar quality and nobody wanted another Mane - Sissoko situation. Better to keep the powder dry, be patient, keep the money for someone who will genuinely push the first xi.

Thanks as ever Mods, you've been both entertaining and ensures that this place managed to keep going. Thanks all the ITKs, you ensured that we stayed excited.

Glad it's over. Bring on the football now!

Only disappointment is City didnt play ball with us on Sancho. Dortmund has given Dembele's no 7 shirt to him. Shame we couldn't get him
