Son is probably lined up to leave if we can get Isco. We probably won't so it will likely be Chadli and N'Jie making way for GKN. Surely if Mason and Carroll are going we need another CM?

A&C this appears to have been generally glossed over but was this just a throw away comment. I only ask as we were linked with the German International Draxler earlier on in the summer and now talk of Son going to Wolfsburg I wonder if there was anything to see here and you were being playful

If there is any truth in the Isco rumour at all then i suspect it will be a very late loan deal - when Madrid fail to move James on.

After a strong start to the window, i am a little worried that we are leaving ourselves paper thin again (i.e. GKN could be brilliant but may not be PL ready, Chadli wasn't perfect but was PL ready) - perhaps even more paper thin than usual given we will not have the luxury of playing the reserves in Europe. The bench on Saturday was a bit scary and i do wonder whether it was a message from Poch to Levy that we need some more (first team) bodies in?

Yes but Njie was a centre forward (looks out of place out wide but better in a front 2) and as a result I see Janssen as the better fit for our system. Similarly neither Bentaleb or Mason are defensive midfielders but Wanyama replaces one of them. Just because they're not like for like doesn't mean they're not replacements.

I agree we messed up last summer so this summers signings corrected those issue. We had the wrong players for the roles they were needed for.

Assuming Son's offer is only from Wolfsburg ,my reading of the situation....

Son deal , I believe hinges on Draxler deal between PSG & Wolfsburg.

German media reporing now that , Wolfsburg have rejected 75m Euro offer from PSG & asking for more money which PSG isnt willing to pay. Draxler has burnt his bridges with Wolfsburg fans with his attempts to leave them. But the club wants to keep him. As of now , he stays - means Son also stays.

I guess its too late for any of these deals to happen.

Finding it hard to believe Wolfsburg rejected that much, would be very naive given how his stock has arguably fallen since he left Schalke

If that's the case I don't understand why he's only featured for around 30 seconds or so out of the first 3 games and didn't even make the bench for the Palace game. I really like the look of Winks but I think if Poch had that much faith in him he would already have figured more prominently given we're without Dembele.

I honestly don't know what to make of this transfer window.
N'Jie and Son possibly on their way out - after barely one season!
Chadli gone
Bentaleb gone
Mason on his way out
Carroll on his way out
Pritchard gone
Yedlin gone
No idea what's happened to Wimmer!

Don't we need squad players - for arguably our toughest season!!?
Even if GKN finally gets over the line, we look so light, it's unbelievable!!

There could be various reasons but the fact we have got rid of Bentaleb and soon Mason/Carroll without buying replacements speaks for itself.
