NO to Martinez stand by what I said yesterday about him! Only flavour of month at moment thanks to Wigans last 7/8 games. He will more than likely take us down than to the next level
I get the horrible feeling that this mystical 'next level' IS down. Unless Levy can pull a rabbit out of the hat. And no, by rabbit I don't mean one of David Sullivans Dildos

As other people have mentioned the best itk for anything related to Martinez will be Dave Whelan via Skysports news or any other media outlet that he can use as a mouthpiece :cautious:

I'm sure we will talk to AVB and Peps representatives since they are both out of work. Doesn't mean anything will happen but we will Definately have the conversation.

For better or for worse it could be Rafa. He fits the bill of having both premier league and european experience

I completely agree. You would be mad not to approach any top manager who is out of work. You never know what could happen.

I believe that Levy hasn't sacked Redknapp because he feels he's a bad manager, more because he wants to instill a longer term strategy, something that Redknapp clearly was not on board with when he admitted he could've gone this season.

Totally agree with this, signs point to longevity with Levy at the moment, Harry steadied the ship, Levy wants to conquer the sea.
Any long term deal with Harry would have resulted in the same type of media and speculation if England come calling again. I'd rather watch another club go through that than possibly derail our season again.

Also want to say thanks to Ryan - Top lad mate, thanks for all the info. Best of luck with what you do next. (y)

Martinez has kept a poor wigan side up for a couple years now. Sure he has highs and lows, but didn't Harry and that was the reason most were frustrated with him. Martinez plays an attractive style of football and, personally, has done a fantastic job with what he has had. Could Harry keep wigan up? He isn't my first choice and isnt a flashy name, but give the man some respect. At least he speaks English unlike that capello fellow

I would love Martinez as manager. Laid the foundations for Rodgers at Swansea, and done amazing things at Wigan when you think about it. They lose their best players every summer (what few good players they have!). Their ground is half empty every week, and their fans travel by minibus to away games.

Yet he’s got them playing good football. Even when they were hammered 9-1 by us, and had that long losing run this year, he stayed positive and kept them up, which was the equivalent of winning a trophy really.

He seems to have a real presence about him, almost Mourinho like, and is great with the media too. Rather than play it safe with Moyes (who would do well), I’d take a chance a chance on Martinez (who could do great). Audere-est-facere!

Agree completely.

As for the candidates, if it's between Martinez and Moyes I'd go for Martinez. All the talk of Moyea achieving on a shoe string: Baines, Heitinga, Distin, Jagielka, Fellaini, Bilyadentinov, Neville, Yakubu, Jovetic, these guys weren't exactly freebies in the last few years. Martinez has manage to keep a tiny club in the premiership with his best players constantly being sold but not getting the funds from those sales, and unlike most sides who spend nothing, has kept them up by playing good football. Don't forget, all the praise Rodgers has been getting at Swansea for good football is with an ethos created when Martinez was manager.

I don't, however, think he's ready for our job.

In Levy I trust. I kind of want a Spurs man hired, but I can't think of any good enough :(

Blue Spanish eyes
Teardrops are falling from your Spanish eyes
Please, please don't cry

This is just adios and not goodbye
Soon I'll return
Bringing you all the love your heart can hold
Please say "Si, si"
Say you and your Spanish eyes will wait for me

Blue Spanish eyes
Prettiest eyes in all of Mexico
True Spanish eyes

Please smile at me once more before I go
Soon I'll return
Bringing you all the love your heart can hold
Please say "Si, si"
Say you and your Spanish eyes will wait for me
Say you and your Spanish eyes will wait for me
"Dream big because dreams come true."

I would be delighted by Martinez or AVB. I agree with all above that Harry leaving has more to do with the club's long term strategy, from the ground up. Both those I have mentioned play positive attacking football which would build on the excellent foundations Harry has laid, but with a firmer approach to tactics and how to change games if it isnt working. I could be wrong obviously!

With so many managers who may be potentially available, I would find very surprising if Levy has decided this earlier he wants Martinez or Moyes. I suspect both names will be on the list but as A&C has pointed out with his post about people mooting possible candidates, there are a wide variety of possibilities. Let's just hope we make a good long-term decision for our club, and the future remains as bright.

I also take it that the PG referred to in the RO section is Guardiola? Who would be a big risk (one I would like to see us take tbh) as he is unproven outside of Barca, which although sounds strange must be considered as (many of) the players we have are not of the same quality.
