It's like you haven't watched how turgid Dier has been for England lately? England have played three or four of the worst games I've seen, ever, with Dier plodding around in there. Honestly, if he wasn't a Spurs player you (and the others saying the same) would be slaughtering Dier and wouldn't want him anywhere near this team. Unless you used to praise Phil Jones's England CM performances too ?

Against a team like this, England don't need the kind plodding risk aversion Dier brings. I don't overly rate Henderson, but there's nothing he does worse than Dier in the context of a game like this and at least he's a bit more dynamic.

It's like you haven't noticed how turgid England have been in every game since Southgate became manager regardless of who the personnel is. Not surprising that as usual Dier is your scapegoat for everything.

Our midfield options shouldn't be Winks, Dier or Henderson though. We should have more than three players to choose from.

Sorry, I forgot we are only allowed scapegoats from other clubs. Because that's all you were doing. What does Dier do better than Henderson that would improve a game like this? Better movement ? More incisive passing ? Quicker tempo ? More dynamic ?

Calling for Dier to play instead of Henderson is nothing but childish Spurs bias, and it's tedious.

I agree with Hoddle there. We struggle to break most teams down so we need to learn to play a different way.

I feel that this is a reason for Dier. Henderson carries the conceit that he is in fact a footballer when everyone can see he is not. His 'dynamism' does not include passing that is incisive nor accurate. Dier would at least sit and give Winks the security to roam and take chances.

BC appears to have split his Walker hatred between Dier and Dele this year. Broken record.

Didn't Henderson create the best two chances in the match? The knock down for Alli when he was fouled for the penalty and the cross for Dele's header that he put wide.

Dier is very overrated in possession, especially on here. Wouldn't solve anything. Southgate is the problem i'm afraid. This is obviously not a terrible group of players.

Don't agree with you here BC. Dier offers more discipline centrally alongside Winks, allowing him to move into more telling areas where he could do more damage.
Henderson lacked any discipline, often running beyond the forwards and leaving big gaps behind him that Winks was forced to try and fill. Henderson effectively neutralised Winks' effectiveness.
