Trix thought that we could have use of Mendes short-term, but not even that has been the case. The snake is just fucking us up.

So a scenario I've done in my head based on the ITK we have heard:

Mendes has links to both Diaz (through Porto) and Traore.

Mendes smells the money we are going to spend, and wants to curry favor with us.

He tries for the Traore deal, but Barca comes along and he is forced by player or senses a better deal over there.

To save his relationship with us, he offers to connect us to Diaz, knowing the player and club wants a move.

We are cautious and sceptical, perhaps having Intel that Liverpool is waiting for him, and therefore we put in a deadline for the deal, so we have time to close on other options.

Liverpool sees us negotiating and decides to firm up interest.

Question is how much Mendes wants to curry favor with us, and what he can then offer us.

Wasnt there a story that diaz's agents were pissed that mendes had got involved t'other day? How does that work ... does mendes work on behalf of the player, porto, us n liverpool? How does that weasel get involved in transfers that dont affect his clients? Is he seen as a deal broker(er)... genuinely confused ...

The thing with Dragon is that despite him being the harbinger of doom that he is, he does get things right.

Re Diaz; We have two ITK saying it's down to the player and one saying it would be tied up now if the club had just thrown more money at the deal from the beginning.

I personally think that the only reason it ran on for the time it did was because his agents went to Liverpool to make them aware that he was Spurs bound unless they acted straight away.

The role of Agents clearly needs to be more regulated. Seems too much scope for conflict of interest.

modern day agents leave a lot to be desired but seeing him constantly get the blame for failed deals or poor signings seems a bit of a kop out.

I cannot understand why fans state we are in a mess! We are not. We have the 3rd or 4th best points per games at the moments. If that is a mess then I am happy as the only way is up! Will be a massive weekend though to see if we will get much needed enforcements! COYS!

We are going to invest and he is not going to walk, imho.

Its very "catch 22", if we don't get the right ones in during this window, i think its unlikely we make Top4 leaving us in limbo again in the summer, still unable to attract the right calibre of player.

I agree. But as has been alluded to this month from ITK, we need that external investment to happen before we really can crack on with any sort of rebuild.

I'll just add, and don't read too much into this because it might just be the fact the club have decided to keep zipped on everything right now, but....as far as I'm aware none of us have been told that Diaz is actually off as yet. Like I say might be the radio silence, but odd just the same.
