I’m not worried at all re the length of the contract. That’s what Tuchel came to Chelsea on initially too and it was extended by both sides when it clearly was working out.

Have a feeling Conte is going to take a liking to Rodon and utilize him on the left of his back 3

Thing is, Conte is so random at times He could bring in Davies there and play blimming Bergwijn right wing back. You just never know what he has planned or sees.

Managers rarely go over 3 seasons now. 4/5 year stints are becoming a myth.

At least we can guarantee whoever the fuck is out there on the pitch is going to put 100% effort in and give their all for Conte. Wouldnt surprised to see certain average players like Bergwijn improve massively.

I'm really intrigued to see what tactical set up he goes with at first and how he develops it.

At Chelsea he stated with a 4-3-3 but shifted to 3-4-3. And of course at Inter he used a 3-5-2.

But the positive thing is that this is a coach who has a plan. He'll know what set up to apply.

I do think fans get a bit too attached to formations and what style of play that insinuates. But Conte has his principles and that is to play fast, be aggressive, compact, lots of movement and ensuring players are joining the attack.

Can anybody enlighten me, is there any room for wingers in a Conte team?

I’m thinking Gil, Lucas, Bergwijn, maybe even Son, where do they all fit in from here? Gil might be best in the middle anyway, Sonny can play off Kane.

Fear it might be time up for Lucas and for Bergwijn.

He may use Bergwijn as a RWB and he could use Lucas as a second striker (similar to Alexis Sanchez).

Gil is going to suffer though cause unless we can play him in the hole I doubt he'll get much game time.

Although at Chelsea, Conte played three up top Hazard, Costa and Willian so he may be used in the Hazard/Willian role.

I do think he'll go with the Inter set up. Two up top.

At Chelsea to make use of their wingers he used a 343 to incorporate the likes of Hazard and Pedro. At Inter he preferred a 352 with two strikers centrally. Son is well suited to play in the 2 striker setup alongside Kane, a bit like under Jose. Lucas who is more industrious and defensively hard-working might be trained into a wing-back, as with the likes of Ivan Perisic who played there for Inter. Alternatively he could play as one of the two strikers which is where I think Conte might try out Bergwijn. Gil could perhaps do a job at wing-back, alternatively I could see him playing the mezzala role either side of the deep lying playmaker in the midfield three who are tasked with pushing forwards, getting close to the strikers, playing one-twos etc.

He used them at Chelsea in his first season (Hazard, Pedro and Willian), but in his second season he used 3 CMs and 2 forwards (same at Inter). If we play 2 forwards, Son will play up front. He mostly played 3CMs and 2 Strikers with Juve but with Italy (and his first few games at Chelsea) he played 4-3-3, so it is anyone's guess how he would set up for us tbh.

A bit unfair i think on Spurs if we take Levy at his word wrt the stadium. Will we spend 300m in 2 windows? No likely not. But with the new stadium being full every week, the ancilliary events, & the fact that we have 30 years to pay back the loans, it presents a lot of wiggle room to provide for the club on the pitch & with the hundreds of billions Newcastle is now flush with to improve their dilapidated infrastructure & squad, this is our last & best chance to finally figure this mess out again, get a trophy & get something going to build upon. Conte is here for the now. But depending on how things go, Paratici could be here for longer than the initial 3 years he got.

Good post :)

18 months is fine. He’s not a long term manager. If he lasts more than two years before he walks I’ll be shocked, but he’ll whip us into shape and transform the squad for whoever comes next.
