If Conte comes now it does beg the question why the hell we couldn’t get it done in the summer.
It also raises questions about stories last week saying United had "the same doubts that Tottenham had had in the Summer" (paraphrasing) because of dodgy deals Conte did with agents while he was at Chelsea.

not trying to be that guy but isn't this exactly what we said about mourinho when we were bringing him in? Don't get me wrong, I want Conte, he would light a fire under everyones ass but yeah we definitely have a super complicated situation right now in terms of squad turnover and unrest and supporters
We were much less of a shitshow then. The narrative was "they have the squad, now they just need the proven manager to push them that little bit further". Now we're in the corner, hugging our knees.

The difference is that Conte's last job was a roaring success whereas Mourinho's last job before us ended in dismal failure and being replaced by a complete novice.

Two managers on a completely different trajectory.

For experience and world standing, plus being out of work, Conte is the best we could possibly hope for.
I like the idea of Potter, or Gerrard, but they’re not on the level of Conte.

i hope it isnt conte and i hope conte isnt dafting enough to accept it. The news in the media leads to conte.

He just isnt the right fit for levy.

We need to get a eddie howe, parker or potter type personality. A manager that plays on the front foot and will see spurs as a step up from there previous/current jobs.
There is no right fit for Levy pal

I wonder if this might also be due to the recent Newcastle takeover? They're looking at that, realising that medium to long term, their position is threatened if they don't start really pushing ASAP. Standing still is no longer good enough.

Maybe this was the master plan all along. Wait for the season to start and then get Conte at a time when he doesn't have the transfer window.
