the backlash against Levy if he f***s this up now will be something to behold. The Man U game will seem like a children's birthday party at Disneyland hosted by Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy in comparison.

All afternoon I have been expecting to hear "talks have broken down". I didn't want to get sucked in but I have been well and truly sucked in.

Can't wait until we announce him

I really believe in Conte and that he can change our squad. We really need to sack a lot of the deadwood (winks etc) and with Conte and Paratici this can finally happen! They will either well them or transform them to a much better player. Now Levy just need to hold his promises about giving control to Paratici and Conte

Surely the BSoDL no longer exist now?

Huh? This is our greatest hour. Vindication of every we believe. Look how happy all you slags are right now. 48 hours ago you chanting We want Levy out. Now you're making jizz jokes and watching flight trackers.

LONG LIVE LEVY

The greatest trick Levy ever pulled was making you think Antonio Conte existed...

Our stadium and facilities are better because it's new; but by the same token they are further down the line on the recovery process, which is why I mentioned it just for other fans to take note. I think many of us would have thought about it already.

Yeah I havent lost hope. As you say Liverpool is a good example. But I'm a pessimist and given what's happeend since the late-Poch era, my gut is pointing towards decline (relative to the established CL teams).
Here’s an idea, why don’t you take your negative bollocks to an appropriate thread, because it sure as fuck has got nothing to do with this thread.
No offence mate.

I do not think we are in that situation. I think we were from 2016-2019, and that was when we did not invest in the first team. But since then we have spent relatively big and showed 'ambition' by hiring Mourinho. We certainly did not sell all our best players to our rivals (Ashley Cole and Fabregas to Chelsea, Nasri, Clichy, Adebayor to Man City, RVP to Man U etc.). Arsenal also got stuck as the housing market crashed when they wanted to sell flats converted from their old ground. Their new stadium also did/does not generate any significant non-football revenue. Their situation was also compounded by Wenger reaching his expiry date after 20 years. Similar to Man U and Fergie.

We have spent money, we just got the big money signings and managerial appointments wrong in the last 2 years.
I hope you are right. I dont fault the club for trying with Mourinho; from a CV-perspective it doesn't get much better than that.
I'm not sure when to start the 'sell best players count'; from late Poch-era the only significant one is probably Eriksen, but I think you can read this both ways (that we aren't willing sellers, or there are not enough willing buyers). My view is more of the latter; aside from Kane and Son I dont see how anyone else can interest a 'big' team.
I like your arugment about non-football revenue and housing market; those are solid.

So - who’s ready for my tv drama theory……

imagine this was Paraticis long term play all along.
He wanted conte from beginning but levy said no to demands.

paratici thinks who can I get that will f’ck things so bad he will have no choice but to give in in a couple of months…

give me nuno please Daniel!!!

I know, I know, I’m playing - but just imagine someone had that sort of long play!!

So basically our weakest area (in my mind) of midfield is the most important in the team?

We need player in in January then or this is doomed to fail.
No I wouldn't say so. Conte tends to like hard working unspectacular midfielders. Like often he has picked players in that area which fans think are complete shit. The point I'm making is he isnt suddenly going to try to pack the midfield with creativity or attacking minded players. Rather the midfield needs to be functional and well balanced.

I think a Conte side really needs defenders with good distribution (think Bonucci, David Luiz, And De Vrij) attacker who can hold up the ball and play others in (Think Lukaku, Pelle, Costa) and fullbacks who are quick and tireless (think Moses, Hakimi and Asamoah). Full backs he sometimes compromises on tbf. Midfield needs to be strong and give the team structure and energy. He likes a more metronomic figure at the base of midfield but doesn't always employ it.

It's not just new. It has better facilities, a sliding pitch , a sky walk. All these things will attract other events.

Going forward we cant compete with Newcastle and City but we can be smarter and decisive then we can compete.

Levy must stop being reactionary though. Be proactive and control what we can.

I’m sure you’ll agree I was one of the more obstinate and married to my views re Enic, but nah I abandoned that way of thinking during the facial manager search. I think it was Fonseca that broke me… not sure if it was him going tits up or us even going for him in the first place but if I’m out, then I can’t imagine there are many left in.
An unusual approach. I assume Danny was giving…

I'm sorry to pour cold water on this, but I think while Conte might make us better in the short term, our situation is more dire than that.
We are in Arsenal's situation after their move to the Emirates, so you can see how long this is likely to go. Added to this is that other clubs are investing harder to make their squad better.
I can see how you got your name!!

I haven't been buzzing like this for a while. Just caught up on 40 odd pages. If he signs, boy what a statement that is. Let's worry about January when we get there eh? As for the squad and those players people don't rate, it's a fresh start under whoever the new man is. If that means Dele, Winks, Doherty etc start performing then all the better.
