Bulgarian speakers, anything of note said here by Berbatov in the last few days please?

ОДК Варна победи в 11-то издание на "Данониада", Бербатов връчи Купата

Бербатов: Най-хубаво е да поиграеш с приятели

Cheers.

Lily, he was asked whether there are any news about his future and he told them that there are no news. He was asked about Barca's interest, too. He replied that he learned about it from the papers, he is flattered but if the journos want more info, they have to ask his agent. Nothing interesting imo.

Thank you Petyr!

It's verrry interesting to me that thus far in Bulgaria he goes to all these events, almost on a daily basis, all by himself, with no Mrs Berbatova anywhere in sight. I think he's becoming a monk. Eek

He had decent striking technique when delivering those knees to the reporters ribcage, maybe he has decided to turn his talents to the UFC

Rather than starting a new Berba thread and annoying people, and as we'd been talking about this match in this thread, had to post this.

Berbatov and Martin Petrov in CSKA Anniversary Match

(including what to do when those pesky reporters get on your nerves.....just knee them in the groin, and karate chop them over the head! That's what Berba does like a natural! Move over Vinnie Jones innit!)

Well it is the fastest growing sport in the world, maybe he was watching it over here and got inspired to train up!

He probably needed to cos he said when he used to stand next to BMJ he was huge and felt in a Boxing contest BMJ would win by a straight knock out!

I advise you to go straight to the seaside, obviously he will be there next week. I am devastated because i've just come back from there after my ball  But you may have luck

My husband is out, I have his credit card....what airport do I need to fly to?

Oh no! That's 2 years running you've had bad luck Gaby. I hope you still had a great time anyway!

Can you wangle a few days there next week as our SC BG Correspondent on vital Berba Watch duties?

You know we rely on your intrepid reporting, Berbs might just come out and "attack" you - that would be fun, and very worth it!

He knows deep in his heart, Berba has too much class to ever become an Everton player!!

Gosh! No! I thought they were over already! :eek:mg:

Very best of luck for all your upcoming exams Gaby.
And I have no doubts we'll be seeing your name as a reporter in future. You could do journalism, as you are totally bi-lingual, but you're gorgeous enough to get a TV job for sure.

Excellent news! Berba has no escape from the SC tentacles!

Interesting article in the Sofia Echo

For the first time ever (and I suspect the journo has been trawling the forums of SC for info) an article has been written in the Bulgarian press - albeit in the English language Sofia Echo - accepting that Berbatov may still be at Spurs next year. It's quite a departure, so I felt it worthy of note and posting here.

There's an implied criticism of Tottenham's valuation of him, which doesn't surprise me, as no doubt the club will be blamed for "scuppering" any move with a high price tag. But when they mention he was "fodder for press speculation", it's a pity the name Danchev doesn't make it into the article, as the source of the major speculation during the season, and for setting it all in motion.

Berbatov transfer saga goes to ground
18:45 Mon 02 Jun 2008 - Alex Bivol

The prospect of Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov leaving current club Tottenham Hotspur in one of this summer's blockbuster transfer moves appears increasingly less likely with every passing day.
Despite serving as fodder for numerous transfer gossip column inches in the closing stages of the Premier League season, talk of Berbatov leaving the White Hart Lane club has quieted down, with none of the interested parties apparently putting in a bid for the striker.
Valued at 30 million pounds at one point by head coach Juande Ramos, Tottenham seem to have successfully scared off potential suitors, among them the freshly-crowned European champions Manchester United and Barcelona.
Berbatov could yet rue the fact that Bulgaria is missing out on a trip to the European Championship finals in Austria and Switzerland, a stage where he could have showcased his talents against the continent's best defenders. Bulgaria was third in its qualifying group G on 25 points, just one point behind the Netherlands, with Berbatov finishing joint-top scorer in the group with six goals.
The tournament, starting on June 7 and ending on June 29, has already put a dampener on transfer dealings, as most of the continent's top players are away on international duty. Their respective clubs are also reluctant to part ways with their prized assets before Euro 2008, in the hope that the price of their prized assets goes up should the players have a good tournament.
Berbatov's prospective transfer has also been hit by Tottenham's failure to line up a ready replacement for the Bulgarian. Attempts to sign Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto'o, Spain's Luis Fabiano or Paraguay forward Oscar Cardozo, have so far yielded no positive results.
The latest speculation, voiced by Sunday tabloid People on June 1, has Spurs swooping for Real Zaragoza's Spanish striker Diego Milito as a replacement for Berbatov, although should the lofty price tag scare off bidders, Berbatov could yet spend another year at the London club, with whom he has a contract for two more seasons.
