Most of the chatter regarding central midfield options seem to revolve around these guys, anybody I'm missing? All would certainly add something to the current squad and provide solid depth and be very solid in situations to start also. Jack Grealish, Youri Tielemans, Andre Gomes, Tanguy NDombele, Donny van de Beek

At least a dozen.

I'd take Grealish over Tieliemans. The latter is good, but the former is the better all round player for Poch's style.

I think both have a lot of quality but Grealish gives more graft, he'd work harder off the ball which is such a big part of the game and an absolute requirement for Poch.

Are we still even in for Grealish?

Btw, when does the summer transfer window open?

Two articles on wiki state it's May (17th) to August (9th).

Seems a bit early, but then Manchester Evening News has it as 1st July, which seems way too late.

And the PL official site doesn't seem to list the dates at all.

I wouldn’t worry, we won’t be signing any players anywhere near it. You should be wondering when it ends!

If Toby leaves, we will need replacement. I am not convinced about Foyth and Sanchez to play full time yet.

Not so sure, Toby wasn’t an automatic pick last season and we did fine. If we can’t find a partner for Jan from Sanchez, Foyth and Dier then something is wrong imo.

Have to agree. To replace Toby's pedigree will cost us 50m at least and there are other areas in greater need of that type of expenditure.

I agree. What we really need is a successor/backup to Jan regardless of whether or not Toby stays. In games where Jan is out we've had to settle for Toby or Davies as LCB because neither Sanchez or Foyth has looked comfortable there. Unless we're saying Davies is now our LCB which maaaaaay work but doesn't instill confidence, for me at least.

I'll never have a problem with signing any young player regardless of their position, cost and our needs in other areas. As long as they are actually better than our best young player in that position.

Di Marzio: "Napoli insists for Tottenham's Kieran Trippier: the first offer presented by the club of Aurelio De Laurentiis was between 18 and 20 million euros for the 28-year-old right-back, however, the distance between the Partenopei and the English side was said to be at least 15 million euros. Therefore, 35 million euros is the fee demanded for the English international" Apparently Man United want him as well.

I find it perplexing, to say the least.

Anything over 20 would be a miracle, IMO.

Honestly, if anything it’s the other way around. But both have largely played as the most attacking of a central midfield 3 this season (at least at Leicester in Tielemans’ case), and to judge Grealish by goals and assists is to gravely misunderstand his role in a team.

You're telling me Tielemans is more of 10 than Grealish? I can't understand that.

However, I agree that both are adept playmaking midfielders that could play in a CM3 and have the technical ability to play higher up the pitch. But Grealish certainly has not been used as a pivot, whereas Tielemans has (more often than not) played matches there for Anderlecht, Monaco, Leicester, and Belgium.

I view Tielemans as a CM option (whether it be in a CM3 or pivot). He's a balanced midfielder with strong playmaking and defensive abilities. I view Grealish as essentially a playmaking AM & Eriksen/Dele understudy. His versatility allows him to also play in a CM3, on the left of our midfield diamond like Eriksen, or in a more central attacking role like Dele. Like Eriksen, Grealish has the ability to drop in from attacking positions and run with the ball at his feet. He's not necessarily well regarded for his defensive contribution.

His skillsets align more with that of a 10 than an 8. It's certainly a similar comparison to us playing Eriksen in the pivot alongside Dier/Wanyama. Would you say Eriksen is more of an atypical 8 than a 10?

we bought him for 3.5m and he's by far our worst starting XI player, if we have an upgrade in mind and possible to sign, we should rip their arm off for 20m.

Bits and bobs out there about us & Inter Milan being interested in van de Beek. €50m apparently the figure being mentioned.

Never seen him but looks like I'll be doing that tomorrow evening.

You know, I find great comfort in knowing some things will always remain the same.

Long story but I live near Hull am Spurs fan but have season ticket at Hull as my lad loves going every week. He also plays for the Academy and recently met the 1st team but gutted Bowen was not there. Speaking to some coaches at training I mentioned he was gutted at not meeting Bowen and I joked that might be his last chance as he was linked with us. They, once they knew I was Spurs, said quietly we are 1 of 2 clubs that he is talking to but wouldn’t name the other. Personally think he’s good but not our level. Happy to be wrong as he’s rescued Hull this season.

Perhaps when dembele was sold in January which was the right decision by the way we should of instead had a replacement brought in rather than just keep trying to save on wages and muddle through.

the reason we didn't replace Dembele is because we only had space for 1 player to make the CL squad unless we signed a HG player. Poch promised Foyth a place in the squad if anyone left

I agree, he's decent but more like a snodgrass level player. Good striker of the ball, but lacks the physical and technical side of the game to ever make it as a PL winger.

Does anyone think that Jack Clarke is buyable this season?
I would love both him and Daniel James; James could easily be retrained as a striker and Clarke as a no 10. I reckon 50 mil for the both of them would be doable. Clarke would be a great Lamela replacement if Erik goes whilst James brings some searing pace to our front line. Would give us money to spend elsewhere too.
