Weird no ITK's have picked up on these developments which makes you wonder if it's as close as reports are claiming

Honestly, I am in disbelief at how utterly dismissive some are of Chadli... Simply because he is not Bernard? Because he's not valued at £20m I take it... Had this not been the final year of his contract, I guarantee he would be moving for significantly more than €7m.

I can think of a lot worse wingers to sign for more than we have supposedly agreed for Chadli. It also leaves us with a significant amount of our £50m to reinvest in a striker.

I don't get the idea of selling Defoe/Ade and only bringing in one striker. That leaves us with what we had last season, which was only having two strikers. Granted it maybe an improvement in terms of actual personnel, but surely we should be adding a 3rd? Unless that 3rd is someone like Kane/Obika/Coulthirst.

If come 2nd of September we still only have 2 strikers then I give up.

Even then it wouldn't happen. A £30million player commands big wages which we can't play.

Plus Modric and Berbatov were both sold for £30 million each and I don't remember Levy going out and spunking big money on replacements.

I thought we were talking about strikers not centre forwards. Defoe isn't a centre forward either.

lamela is not in the 30m class yet but will be soon if he keeps developing like he is - probably 19-24m at the moment

I can't help thinking that Townsend is one of those players that if we let him go, will always have great games against us.

Dempsey is not a CF.

well, he's certainly not a midfielder either. the more advanced he plays, the more value he has to us as his goals are probably the only asset he has. and I'm not trying to diminish that, I think in the end he was an important player last year.

if he stays, I think he'll be a cover for a left inside forward.

Why?

If we do sign Chadli that leaves us with Lennon, Townsend, Bale and Chadli as true wingers.

Bale increasingly plays/wants to play in the free role, so I think we need the other 3 as a minimum.

I think it would be a mistake to let Townsend go, as it was when we sent him on loan in January.

We are competing in four competitions and he clearly has undoubted ability.

Bernard will not happen - unless there is a release clause, DL cannot negotiate with these types of clubs.

It also looks like he's going to Arsenal; which is exactly what they need - another tricky little AM.

One things for sure, we certainly are going to win the physical battle in this years' NLD.

This probably means that we have given up on Bernard.

I'm cool with this though, Chadli is a good player. Also, some people are forgetting how effective Aaron Lennon can be. Those two, plus Bale and Sigurdsson is enough in the wide forward/winger positions. Send Andros out on loan if we need to.

7 million euros is an absolute steal too. Leaves plenty to play with to get McCarthy and a striker
