Honestly I don't think we should sign anyone other than a LB, and we should sell and replace Lloris and Vertonghen because they will ultimately want away.

Our major problem is a lack of stabiltiy and continuity, and if we ransack and change our squad every year how will we ever progress?

Sorry if I'm missing the point but surely the only players we have signed outside of that bracket are Soldado and Lamela all the others meet that critetia so whats the point of selling players in that bracket to get other ones in that brscket or are we saying get rid of Soldado and Lamela.

To be honest, it all depends on how the new boss (if Tim goes) sees things. He may come in and convince Lloris to stay, while giving the likes of Lamela a run of games to prove themselves (along with pre-season).

I pretty much agree with this assessment. I wouldn't sell Rose though, this season has proven how disastrous having no proper cover at that position can be. I doubt that we'll ever be able to rely on Kaboul being fit again so for me if (when) Jan goes we need two CBs. I'd like to see us go after a player like Umtiti who can play both LB and CB at a high level as one of those buys.

Between Townsend and Lennon I'd sell the latter. Once he loses a yard of pace Lennon's value will plummet. Townsend is younger and with a manager who demands discipline he could go on to be a decent player. He's also more versatile than Lennon. If we're selling one of those two and Siggy we also need to bring in a first XI-caliber LW as well IMO. I like Chadli as a squad player but he hasn't convinced me he is good enough to be a fixture in our starting lineup.

I agree with Stobart that our first priority should be a proper Modric replacement. For the past two seasons we've been crying out for a player who can set the tempo, keep play ticking over and switch the field. It needs to be addressed.

I really like Ki Sung-Yueng playing at Sunderland on loan from Swansea, i'm completely prepared to be shot down by those saying he isn't good enough for us, but whenever I watch him he wants the ball at his feet and wants to shift it quickly. He is a very good passer of the ball and pretty cheap as well i'd have thought, I can't think of too many CM's that set the tempo who would come that cheaply.

I like him a lot as well. I thought he was very good last year at Swansea and was surprised to see him out on loan.

Yeah Dembele's fault he is being played on the wing

I wasn't referring to recent matches.

Dembele plays like he's playing one on one basketball (isolation), there's nothing wrong with taking on a player but not to the detriment of the team. Many times he should move the ball on but he misses the pass and instead of moving it on anyway (albeit too late) he defaults into iso mode in order to get himself out the mess he's created for himself.

We need someone more deep lying (as Chris12 says) who can keep the ball and distribute in the way that Modric and Carrick before him did. Those are both top class players of course, but that's what we need.

I really hope we give Lamela a proper chance next season but even if we do, he's looked like a lame duck so far and in no way the ruthless attacking force that's required.

I fully expect Eriksen to be part of the team next season though.
