To be fair the Champions League/No Champions League thing is probably still important. Arsenal have qualified 20 years in a row before this season so its not exactly fantasy to think of them as a champions league club that could easily be there again. If they offer the same money, Arsenal no CL is different to West Ham no CL

The Champions League thing still applies. See: West Ham trying to sign strikers.

When players say CL, they mean CL caliber. But CL never meant, I'll pass up millions to play in the CL. If that was the case then players would be flocking to places like Ajax or Monaco. Regular CL contenders that don't pay well.

And, we're still not in the Arsenal category of 20 years with CL. Right now we're still the outsider, and we crashed out of the group stages this season.

And also, if we offered the similar money to Lemar and to Monaco I imagine us having CL would swing it in our favour, so it still holds some weight.

This is the player I am least bothered about us signing. I know he's a fancy name but I don't get the hype.

Whoa ! They would like to think so ...

Between 1998–99 and 2016–17, Arsenal qualified in nineteen successive UEFA Champions League seasons.

Is Lemar better than Alli, Eriksen or Son?

I don't think so.

Hardly a signing for Arsenal worth worrying about.

Could we, just this once, be the one's who get the player in a last minute parity offer. If it's £35m and we get £50m for Walker, then the Porto chap for £20m, that's covered by Bentaleb.

Offer him a yearly £2m loyalty bonus to keep wages in check legally (helping in parity claims, requests). Some such.

Could be the point with several players we are looking at - they look at the strength of our current squad and wonder how they will get regular game time.

We are not good on spending more than 15 million. Paulinho, lamela, Robbie, Sossiko, yansen.

I know lamela is a good player but we have had one out of 3 seasons from him and I think 30 mil could have got us better.

P.s I think
Bentley (I think he was 16 mil) bent, Are two more examples.

.

Well, if they believe we really want him it would be worth their while if he became another Dele level success.
