He got a few crosses into the box too, already an improvement on Rose.
Rose has been very good in these first two preseason games, quit with the unwarranted hate. If all the other signings are getting second chances then surely we can warrant Rose a second chance.

And Rose played in one of the best crosses I've seen in a while to Kane.

So here's the SC logic... Lamela is foreign, Soldado is foreign, Lamela cost us a lot of money, Soldado cost us a lot of money, we we're excited that we signed these players and told all of our non-spurs supporting mates how awesome we would be with these players, therefor they must be given another season to prove their worth and prove ourselves right. Rose is English, Rose was cheap, we didn't gloat about Rose, we've been right all along about Rose, he's shit, we will ignore anything he does well so that our criticism is vindicated, sell the wanker.

The difference is that Soldado and Lamela has shown flashes of brilliance and they have been amazing at former clubs. Rose on the other hand was decent at best at Sunderland and in all the years he's been with us has not shown anything that suggests that he should be first choise LB. Now, I'm not one of those who constantly bash him and scream about selling him etc, I'm happy for him to stay and fight for a place. But he is not good enough at the moment and has to improve.

To be fair rose put a pearler in for Kane in the second half, maybe he should move to the wing! "Shudder"

I was outraged by that ball from Rose. None of that all season, then we sign a new left back and he puts in a ball like that. Disgraceful.

One slight flaw with this davies argument, had he been called luke shaw we would be creaming ourselves, who is english

Had we signed him a year ago, I think alot of us would of been happy since he had a great season

When we signed Rose he was playing as a left winger for Leeds' reserves and as a forward for England U-17s. The left back thing was a Harry experiment that, IMO, has run away with itself.

Rose is dog shit when he isn't 100% fit and hasn't had a run of games first. That was clear at sunderland but he was shit under Sherwood tbf, but i don't know if he was fit

The fitness thing I can see upsetting his positioning and his ability to get into good forward positions, but it shouldn't really affect his ability to bend a football into the box once in those positions, which he seemed almost incapable of doing last year.

He does some weird things. Remember Paulinho's goal against Hull? The turn and hit? What the fuck was that from Rose just before it?

It wasn't an harry experiment, he played Left winger, had a terrible knee injury which since he has never seemed as fast.

He was then struggling in the championship and for the U21's in midfield. Then he struggled to get in the team and McInnes played him LB and he all of sudden looked their best player. We told him to fake an injury and recalled him a week or two later and used him at LB

IF he was a LB he wouldnt be a PL player

At sunderland he was terrible going forward but solid defending after a run of games and full match fitness, was their best defender and poty. His stats back this up as well despite him playing under Di Canio

So, what is it that you're trying to say? That if Rose plays frequently and without injury he can put in more crosses like on Wednesday? Or are you saying that he would continue to be terrible going forward regardless and that that cross was a fluke?

I think he needs to learn his game as how to cross as a fullback. i.e. not how to cross but when to cross.

I remember watching the last couple of games for sunderland and his crossing was better nearer the end of the season as well as being more of a threat

This is because Rose is an athlete, and not a footballer. His value to the side is that pace and strength to chase down opponents on the break. But he's a dreadful footballer, and after said defensive work he gets his blood up too easily and too frequently.

Couldv'e been a good sprinter, has the build.

Can we afford half a season of dross before he hopefully gets into his stride, though? Or do we run with our shiny new left back and leave Fryers/BAE as backup?
