People may not like the comparison but from the little I've seen of Janssen he kind of reminds me of Giroud. Looked to play neat little one touch passes with his back to goal and then move into space.

I think if he composes himself a bit more, gets familiar and gains confidence he could be a really good player for us. We have good runners in the team so even him just being able to effectively hold the ball up and make it stick would be very helpful. He's someone who is strong and can bring others into play well but also has an eye for goal.

Was going to make the Giroud/Pelle comparison, but see a lot of Giroud in him. Which for me is fine for a second striker.

I just can't work Janssen out

Not sure if I'm disappointed with him or with the service. Can't make my mind up between is he overweight or just build like that.

Enjoyed that having just watched it, don't get to see a lot of these players so good to see them looking comfortable on the ball, and offering up options and working hard off it.

Early days for Janssen but his touch is good and he works hard, harder than a Giroud for example and he's more mobile, doesn't flounce around either when he loses it. With more fitness and confidence he'll defo be an asset.

Centre halves looked quick and composed and also physical and both were two footed and happy to play out from the back which is hugely encouraging. Not fussed about little mistakes of positioning or decision making, centre halves don't get anywhere near their best until they're 25 - it's all about learning positioning and angles and making the best choices and that comes from learning from mistakes. Yedlin looked ok, very quick but would like to see him at right back to properly assess. KWP looks very comfortable and composed could be a proper player. Winks was good, composed and pretty quick and mobile and wanted the ball which is good to see, Victor looked good too, decent on the ball and strong in the tackle.

Erik Lamela looks to have grown a bit in stature and his decision making is getting better and better, could be a massive season for him. Onomah looked much happier in the middle he's another who looks to be a proper player in the making.

All very encouraging really for the season coming and the next few years - it's a real pisser about Bentaleb but this group soften the blow somewhat. Poch has got some big decisions to make bringing this lot through, the timing will be crucial and I don't want to see any of them leaving because they don't get playing time, however expectations are high and pressure to get results may influence things. We shall see...

We don't know how Poch plans to use them next season so it's a bit premature to rule it out, I can see Dier having a licence to get forward more as he's capable of playing the advanced midfield role IMO. I think we're going to see them paired together a lot more than people think personally.

Also it's not as if the Dier/Dembele partnership has been super attacking either, Dembele is just as much as a defensive shield as Wanyama is albeit he is able to carry the ball up the pitch with his dribbling ability, he wasn't the one dictating play or trying to break the lines it was Dier particularly towards the end of the season.

Haha but that's exactly my point, we don't know, so we just as much nothing to be able to rule it in. So a response of "clearly" makes absolutely no sense.

Dembele certainly assists with the defensive side, but he does not orient himself as a classical No 6 with his reception and then disbursal of the ball. He doesn't drop quite as deep, and doesn't get rid of it as immediately as other out-and-out DM's, including Wanyama, do. That's a big difference, as it contributes to field positioning of the opposition as well as the midfielder's intended first target. Schneiderlin used to play that role for Poch with Saints, even if he wasn't a true box-to-box midfielder, and Poch has continued a trend of using a player who can get the ball forward quickly rather than two sixers who simply recycle and move the ball quickly.

People simply see two holding midfielders, especially bigger, physical types, and assume they're overly similar in responsibilities. They're not in truth in these examples, and so extrapolating to make these "clear" assumptions from these rather superficial observations is just a bit silly.

No idea how the ICC works but Leicester just got brushed aside 4-0 by psg. Both sides looked like they had quite strong teams out.

Too soon to answer the first question. That can wait until this time next year.

Overweight question..... Either he is but won't be for long.... Poch and co will sort that. Or he is built this way and every time he has a poor game we will have to deal with some of our own fans and media calling him overweight when it's inaccurate!

Janssen from what I have seen looked very good. So long as he is given time he will make our investment look like a steal. Commited, intelligent and hardworking. I see nothing to suggest he has poor technique but I guess in England the technical skills for footballer are of an extremely high standard as a one wise truther declared that every pub football team player in England can do a rabona. Looking at that poster's positive ratings what he posted must be the truth.

Went down for the Atletico game. To me, Janssen looked surprisingly heavy but then it is pre-season. Reminded me of a cross between Pav and Iverson.
Also saw them in Sydney last season..great to see.that squad ..However, I.don't think Spurs should come this way again too soon with this sort of squad. Came across very much as a corporate money grab in Melbourne. Probably 30,000 of the 42,000 were yids who obviously enjoyed being there, getting pissed in the Imperial does have its merits but overall to put out this low key squad was a disappointment....Chadli, Carroll Mason very ordinary the former looking totally disinterested. Lamella did well. What was clear tactically was that Poch, even with this reserve side, is iron clad in his belief in keeping possession. Vorm had more touches in the two games than anyone on the pitch the only problem being he sits almost on the six yard box for back passes, unlike Hugo, and would be in trouble on a bumpy pitch.

While its great to see us dominate most teams with the possesion based game as last year showed, sometimes i feel we hołd onto the ball too long.
We often shift the ball sideways, backwards, forward then its sideways etc again, instead of an early quick ball in or through the center it gives the opposition time to regroup plus makes us quite predictable at times.
Having said that if we can ship out the average ones from the group then a purchase of a game changer would set us on the way imo.

Nice one cheers mate. Yea I saw that penalty he hit in training, jeez power + tekkers. Way way too early to judge but looks to have some good attributes will just take a while to adapt to our style of play and the PL + with any striker if he gets a couple of goals he'll be confident and will play even better

The likes of Lamela, Eriksen, Alli etc. need to work out what Janssen needs as well. Soldado never got the sort of service he needed and Janssen needs the ball in particular places which will be different to Kane. If they can all get on the same page I think Janssen will score plenty but it's as much to do with the AMs as anything.
